And that's perfectly ok. Some kids are more inclined to work on gross motor development first. The key is to just give them choices and let them explore in their own time. Eventually, things will even out. You might have a kid who is running around the house at 10 months, but not saying a single word while your friend's kid is holding conversations, but doesn't walk until 18 months... but by the time they're both 4, they're both likely to be running around the playground telling the same jokes about farting and poop.

that's okay! A principle of Montessori is "follow the child." These are just examples so if your little is all about climbing, then you can encourage climbing or crawling like an obstacle course.

Exactly! I was just thinking this- and it actually makes perfect sense to introduce it at this age because that's often when babies will start to deal with separation anxiety- even if they were previously ok when being dropped off at daycare or a sitter.

I love these videos but I see so many comments with people worried their baby in this age range isn’t mastering the toys. I think your girls are ahead of the game because I’ve seen articles showing some of these toys for 12-18 months. No worries to anyone whose baby isn’t quite to this level. My 10 mo daughter definitely isn’t but I’m not stressing.

Thank you for taking the time to explain the knowledge you’ve acquired. New mom trying to wrap my head around raising a son with so much on the market!! I’m so glad you explained what the purpose is for each toy. Thank you again. I had baby interacting with lights and sound toys, classic fisher price, and I knew in my gut it wasn’t what I wanted. The toys seemed to keep him happy and we were gifted many, and I bought into the cost efficiency. But I knew I wasn’t nourishing him. I felt so convicted…I knew God wanted my son interacting with his word with more of a purpose and not so stimulated. I didn’t know much about Montessori, so thank you for taking the time to sit and explain. It may have changed our lives. Thank you.

I highly recommend looking into the InfantSee program too. If your child, like mine, has advanced developed eyes and can see at 6 months what a 2 year old sees, their hand eye coordination may also be advanced because they can SEE! I so badly wish my daughters age and the timing of this video were consistent because I would have LOVED to have seen this in April 2019!

  • @seekjesusandhisrighteousne8894

Thank you for more wonderful suggestions Ashley! I started signing (sign language) with my babe very early (around month 2-3) he now uses the milk sign which is wonderful, he lets me know when he wants milk! I recently (about 1 month again) introduced a video called “signing time.” It is a wonderful way to teach babes and littles sign language. Of course the parent/parents need to be involved as well also learning and teaching! It is a fun way to teach them. I look forward to more videos from you, thank you from my home to yours. ❤️

I just want to thank you for all your videos for babies and toddlers. I've been following your videos since around July/August and after watching a few we decided for our 2.5 year old Autistic toddler to take a Montessori approach to his toys. And it's been amazing how much hes flourished. This Christmas his speech pathologist sent a list home saying not to buy toys with batteries or noise, as it helps language flourish and first thing I thought of was your Montessori videos.

My Little One loves instruments like bells and maracas, and anything that can be banged together to make noise. She likes to feel the sensory board I made her with various textures (fuzzy fabric, shaggy carpet, etc-I basically went to the dollar store and found a bunch of things that would be fun to feel and then glued them to a board and labeled them according to how they feel). She enjoys knocking over stacked cups. She enjoys turning the pages in her books. She enjoys splashing water and drinking from various buckets and containers at the splash table. And she love love loves playing with the dogs-Any time she’s crawling and comes across one of their toys she holds it up and looks around for one of them to come get it from her. Haha

The first ever Children's House lays just minutes away from Rome's Central Station. I cannot recollect how many times I passed by that area during my university years, having no idea of what the Montessori method was about or what kind of person Dr. Montessori actually was. Sure, we all knew her face because she was on the 1,000-lira banknote (now we have the Euro, so even that hint is gone), but ignored everything about her principles. The situation has not changed so far, and Italy remains among the countries with the lowest number of Montessori schools in the so-called First World. Disheartening, huh?
However, her method has not been forgotten; nay, it has flourished abroad, and your channel Hapa Family is a glaring example of how to be a better parent raising happy and self-confident children.
Pretty sure Dr. Montessori would have been proud of you. And I like to think that if she is watching us from somewhere, she will be smiling at this beautiful Hapa Family of yours.

The ball slide toy is way too expensive. There are other options like wooden race cars track to teach the exact same thing.

What about activities for your toddler’s age group? Can you please give an update on those? I know you mentioned she will start school soon. Can you also give some ideas on what she starts to do in the school once she starts? I’m thinking about homeschooling so it would be great to know more about it. Thank you Ashley :)

Hi Ashley, I am trying to introduce some of these activities to my girl of 9.5 months. However, I realised that she likes to bite on all the toys instead of (example) pulling the shape puzzles out or placing it back. Would you have any tip for that?

Hey Ashley! Are you by any chance going to do a baby food update video? I know we've seen Mia eating various things in your vlogs, but a food specific video would be amazing. Like cutlery progressions?

I wasn’t planning to, but I can certainly look into it. What exactly do you mean by cutlery progressions?

@@HapaFamily Haha sorry odd wording. I mean when do you introduce knives, cutting food, using both a knife and fork, eating soup from a bowl...and other things? I know each child is different but what are the curs you look for?

    1. Can you do a video on how you schedule your day? Like I get the idea from your DITL videos but I'd like to see one where you do a detailed outline.
    2. Do you have a garbage bin in your girls room? That's a concern I have for making our bedroom Montessori.
    Thanks!!
