    Wawak sells a product called leather tape. ( very reasonably priced) It is a double face tape that is wonderful. You can even re position it a bit. It is great for applying trim as well. Much easier to use than the iron and fusing tape. Depending upon the fabric, the iron can "fry" the fabric while trying to melt the fusing tape. Another thought I have on shortening is do it from the top ( depending upon the curtain of course) If the back of the curtain is basically the same as the face, you can fold over the top to the front for a flounce/valance and add the alligator clip rings or flip it to the back and add the alligator clip rings. easy peasy.
    Most curtains just get dusty-instead of washing and ironing, remove hardware, put in your clothes dryer with a damp towel ( can spray on some fabreeze if desired) NO HEAT and tumble for 10+ minutes and rehang.

    I wouldn't cut the curtains because when you wash them, it will unravel if you don't do anything else to it. If you put your fusible tape at the end of the curtain panel, you can do the same thing, you will just have a hem, which most curtains have anyway. Just a thought.

  • @M.Happie
    @M.Happie Před 6 lety +50

    Instead of cutting the curtain, you could've put the fusing tape on the top of the folded curtain instead of on the bottom. This would've allowed you to use your curtain for future moves or room changes. I hope that helps

    I hate to pin, especially sheer fabric (always poke myself, lol), so I just cut a piece of thin cardboard (like the backing from a writing pad) to the width I need (in Sharra's case, it would be 5-1/2"), line it up with the bottom of the curtain, fold the curtain edge up over it, and iron that section right over the cardboard. Then I can just slide it along, continuing to fold the next section up to meet the edge and ironing as I go. No pinning, and it's faster.

    I’ve purchased some beautiful curtains and one set is going on a window with the half round at the top. The half round has one of those fan coverings that I don’t want to cover up, so the curtains that will go below the cover half round needs hemming. My problem with that is these curtains are not to be ironed. So using any type of hem bond that’s available is out because an iron is required. I’m great with my sewing machine too, but trying to create a sharp crease for the hem also will need an iron...I think. Do you have any suggestions for a way to make these curtains the proper length without using an iron. Thank you very much!

    I have 3 sets of ikea tab top curtains and of course they are all too long. I do sew, so gemming wasn’t an issue however, ikea curtains are not even at the bottom. If you fold the curtain in half lining the top up ( since they hand from the top) you will find that they are not even at the bottom so folding up 5 inches from the bottom won’t work

    Great video! One comment the switching camera angle while you’re talking back and forth to profile is odd, is like you’re looking away from us.

    I've tried this and so far so good, but what happens when you want to wash your curtains in the future? I'm thinking the tape may be ruined unless it's a special glue/tape perhaps.

    Great job ,love the curtain's :) . I wonder if they have them in a very light hint of green ..... for my mom's room. I'm thinking white wall's ?

  • @ZeldaZelda-RichesToRags

    be sure to re'do them if you wash/dry them as that iron on tape comes loose when you wash/dry them.
