Whisky.com reviews the Ardbeg Spectacular. The Ardbeg Spectacular is the first from the popular and well-known Islay distillery to be matured in port casks as well as ex-bourbon casks. In addition to the classic bourbon cask maturation, the port casks give the Islay malt a rich flavour and interesting colouring. The special bottling was created for the Fèis Ìsle Festival 2024 and was initially only available to members of the Ardbeg Committee. On Ardbeg Day and the last day of the whisky festival on Islay, the Spectacular will go on sale on 1 June.
We only ship to the Netherlands and Belgium!

Delicious! I found a couple of these beauties!! Lovely!! I agree with your review! Bang on!! Cheers!
Me too! Picked up a couple bottles. Love it!
@@steelsteez6118 It's lovely!! Cheers!!
It'd definitely a circus, and Ardbeg are treating us like we're the clowns.
There is no committee version by the way. Ardbeg have scrapped them, because they hear our complaints "loud and clear" with regards to the constant barrage of gimmicky, lacklustre, limited releases. But by scrapping the higher ABV committee versions, they've shown that they clearly didn't hear us at all.
I can't wait to try this beauty!! Terrific review!!
It’s great to see you both. And it has been a while since I’ve seen y’all. The last time I was able to watch one of your videos Horst was the Master Taster and Ben didn’t even have stubble.
That was a really long time ago 😅
Hold your wallets! These guys at Ardbeg are full of ideas. =)
Yes, these ideas are called BS
Last year’s was 140€ here in Spain. I cracked in laughs and bought an Uigeadail and a Wee beastie, and left with money in my wallet. I expect something like that this year…
how is it at 46%? I wish it was higher but hey, its ported Ardbeg
And they say Germans aren't funny. Meet the Luenings.
There is no committee edition on this one
The port influence on this is minimal because they refil Glenmorangie Qunita Ruban casks with this so we are talking at best second fill, probably older.
Was excited for this one but another gimmick by Ardbeg unfortunately
Unfortunately this BS continues to grow Wade. Another mediocre version at double price. I spoke to one GM Brand Ambassador who denies 🤷♂️. 🥂🥂🥂🙋♂️
Always look forward to your reviews. On a side note, the word citrus in english is pronounced like the the I in the german word "bitte" Cheers
For me, it’s a sweeter version than other Ardbegs I’ve had. Drank neat.
$120 in Michigan. This harsh price point makes it hard for me to justify since I can get a couple of the ten year for less.😮
True can get two of the 10 years for the price of this one.
But, it's a limited edition. Which I bought also haha.
To be fair, I like the wee beastie more than the 10, it has a smoked pear/apple taste than a campfire taste like the 10
@@tudevoid Yeah. The limited release is appealing. It’s awesome having something like this a few years down the line. Nice to share for a special occasion.
3:20 that's definitely a seldomly used word, inimitable. It means it is not able to be imitated. Try breaking it down like this IN-IM-IT-ABLE.
Wish Ardbeg would release some of these specialty bottlings at non-ridiculous prices. $130 plus tax for this? I could almost get two Uigeadail at cask strength for the price.
The bizarrebq was $85 where I live, I thought it was really good. Probably even better than uigeadail, though I would need to try them side by side.
@@xxjongjongxx Was $87.99 around here when it was available, which is fair enough. That's about the only exception however. Every other limited bottling just feels like a cash grab predicated on FOMO, with prices almost always >$120.
190👍
