    what he says about screenwriting I feel is perfectly exemplified with the Dollars AKA Man With No Name Trilogy:
    with Fistful and For A Few Dollars those are pretty good movies when people are actually doing stuff, not talking about what they're going to do next, with with Good, The Bad, The Ugly even during the dialogue scenes it always felt like someone was doing something- and that's part of the reason it is one of the best ever made.

      I'm surprised by how many of the guests recommend Cassavetes. Of the episodes I have seen, he is mentioned more often than any other filmmaker. Thanks to this series, I will make a concerted effort to see his films.

    Mr. Downy did a documentary called, "A Touch of Greatness," It was about Albert Cullum, an educator in the purest sense of the word. I had the pleasure of knowing Mr. Cullum towards the end of his life. More so to be his friend. I'm grateful to Mr. Downy for honoring Albert. Thank you sir.

    I asked (e-mailed) the Anthology Film Archives a few years back asked if there is any plan of a DVD release of his early movies. Told my there were trying to find a distributor. Way to go Criterion/Eclipse!

    I love 8 1/2 so much... If I were a director inside the Criterion closet, and I suddenly see ‘8 1/2’ between all the films, I would say nothing and just put it in my bag as quick as a little mouse running from an elephant.

    I'm trying to appreciate Downey' Sr.'s films more, but his work was so scattershot. He made classics like Putney Swope, but he also made unwatchable stuff like Mad Magazine Presents Up the Academy.

    The Four Feathers but I would love to grab that one but I do hope that Criterion does go back to the drawing board so that The Four Feathers is fully re-restored and then maybe I'll put it in my collection as I thought the picture quality wasn't the best but do hope so in the future just saying.

    I'll use my head and I'll think twice of what I wrote but no offense but Hollywood really is putting out a lot of films that seem the same old stuff you don't have to agree with that but really they just seem to copy from one over the other or I just seem to notice that there not original like they were in there past eras.

      Downey Jr has also done other things. I can’t see his dad being disappointed in him. If I was a successful filmmaker and my son was also successful and happy, I’d be satisfied with that, however he made his money.

    I wish there were better movies like Hollywood used to make and no I'm not that old I'm only in my mid 20's I'm just saying who ever want's to become the next director who gets inspired by these films I hope he or she gets inspired by these films.
    But please don't copy Akira Kurosawa, Federico Fellini, Ingmar Bergman or even Terry Gilliam.
    Just try thinking outside of the box rather than taking other director's ideas and using them as yours.
    That's just not original at all.
