    Awesome video. I’m currently halfway or so through getting my 1990 GT2 back on the road. It was a barn find. Had it for almost 7 years now. She’s not seen the road since 2004. I look forward to your next video.

    I'm getting a 1988 Scala 'barn find' for free which should be a fun project. Dry stored in a garage for the past 20 years so hopefully in decent condition (haven't been able to fully inspect yet) - will probably get shot if it starts getting too pricey but can't complain for an upfront of £0. Very helpful video, will definitely be using it when I do my full inspection.

    You know scirocco well, obviously. Braking system is in any case not like at modern cars, so caution is required, especially that that little 5th cylinder which is not pissible to find a spare one, when car is loaded to activate rear brakes. So, nice to have it, but one should know about it before he buys one. Nice video,nice narrative. Thanks.

    Taking a break from shooting my rear brake video. You've covered a lot - nice job. I'm in a pickle looking for roof rain gutters - nowhere to be found in the US. I'll have to start looking in junkyards unless you have any leads you can share. See you in the next video. Cheers!

      @@dreadnoughtcustoms Replacements would work for me. I just want to get as close to original as I can - I'd be interested if they could make it to the US in one piece. I ordered a reproduction rain tray from a guy in Canada - not exactly the same but does the job. Keep up the good work. I'm at smwag1@comcast.net when you have more info. Cheers!

      @@dreadnoughtcustoms Hey I got a 1982 scirocco that I built. It has a 16 valve dash and interior, a 16 valve fender flares and rockers panels all from a donor car as well trunk with the tail and I did an engine swap to a fresh 2.0L crate block and a ported and polished 8Valve cylinder head with larger valves and all that jazz. Supersprint headers Euro lights and euro bumpers. Great video Tom, covering all of the bases. I have a 91 GT2 and it developed a fuel starvation problem a couple of years ago. After swapping out most of the fuel lines, pump, carb gasket and swirl pot etc; the only thing left was the inlet manifold gasket. That’s what it was in the end. No obvious damage to the gasket, but changing it did the trick. 👍.

    Thanks for a very useful video. In the bit about where to look for rust at 8:14 you say that rust around the rear beam mounts is the worst place for rust, can rust in that area be repaired (albeit with time and expertise) or is it actually not possible to safely sort it if it’s gone too far?

    Great video! Quick question. The break fluid reservoir has a needle at the top that keeps on popping up. Is that an air pressure issue?

    • @dreadnoughtcustoms
      @dreadnoughtcustoms  Před 3 lety

      That might be part of a level sensor, imagine the needle presses a switch, when the level drops the switch is de-energised. So check you have wiring for the level sensor as the top may have pinged off. Think it just clips on.
