It actually would be really interesting to have a Ganon that isn't inherently evil but is forced to because of his linage. Would make for a great spinoff series.
i always thought a game where there was a gerudo incarnation of hylia and the princess cursed with demise would be interesting. and link has to realize that he's fighting for the wrong side or something
I could imagine what the plotline would be like. Ganondorf is born, but of course, the stories portraying the evil of previous gerudo men are very well known, and the stories have him wanting to find a way to break the cycle. So he allies himself with Zelda and Link, and together they find a way to finally break Demise's curse, but at the cost of his life.

@@thesilentangel8299 I hope they've at least considered it. Cause you really can only do the whole demon king route a certain amount of times before it gets old. Besides, don't you feel the series is kind of building up to it? You know, the Master Sword nearly gets destroyed, Demon King, Sages. It almost seems like they're getting ready to wrap up the series. Or at least defeat Demise's curse.
A Hero's Purpose goes somewhat on that, I highly recommend it.
I love this not only because ganondorf having a good side is interesting but the three holders of the triforce being bound together by fate is so amazing. I need this in the next game.

We literally have a good excuse for this in a future game too since the Gerudo have sworn off raising males because of Ganondorf, but I feel there's a good chance that males are still being born just disposed of, maybe in this hypothetical Ganondorf his mother risked everything to save him and now he wishes to break the cycle that doomed him
They can even have him as a boss fight mid game where he is trying to gather the triforce to wish his curse away

And in BotW they say the Gerudo swore off having males, not that there hasn't been a male born since.
The fact that this is stated as an active choice by the Gerudo implies to me that males are still born in rare instances but disposed of.
Also my idea is a hypothetical future game where Ganondorf would be able to reincarnate, so the scenario is still possible

@@CryingARiver The many Links and Zeldas in the series aren't reincarnations of the ones that came before. Each incarnation of both characters is independent from the ones that came before but are given the powers of the Hero Chosen by the Goddess and the Goddess Hylia herself.

After all what makes Majora's Mask so beloved by fans is that it has a unique and memorable world with next to NOTHING to do with Link, Zelda and Ganon, you could even argue that Link even as the player avatar isn't more than a background character compared to the masks he wears. I'm hoping with the success of games like Cadence of Hyrule and Hyrule Warriors that Nintendo starts to see the actual potential of the world they created and start to dip their toes in other possibilities. Man the weight and impact this story has with Ganon actually being their trusted friend who is trying to help them in the end is amazingly compelling!
I notice a pattern amongst most AUs, usually along the lines of “actually, the antagonist was possessed, all along” and I wonder if that is indicative of anything.

Big Bad Only Ganon has been stale for literally two decades (especially since they usually use the same Ganon (although there are more!) while reincarnating Zelda and Link)
I mean. They were asking for it with introducing Demise, and redeeming Groose into prolly my favorite non-trio character besides Midna
Ganondorf, Ganon, and Demise, are three separate entities. Demise is a spiteful god that cursed the Gerudo people and Hyrule as a whole. Ganondorf is the only male born to the Gerudo in 100 years and the reincarnation of Demise’s hatred, the curse. And Ganon is the form they make together, only possible when Ganondorf’s Triforce of Power activates the first time and Demise fuses with him to destroy Hyrule and gain the triforces of Wisdom and Courage. These hard distinctions have always meant that fans have different feelings for different versions of these characters. Many feel that without Demise, Ganondorf would be more sensible. Ganondorf is also the one of the 3 wielders that remembers the most about the past cycles. All this combined means that many fans are changing their way of thinking. Many are jumping on now especially because of the E3 trailer with the Zonai hand seemingly separating the Malice from the soul of Ganondorf. Many see the Malice as being Demise, or at least his hatred. So from all this, people have started to create a proper character for Ganondorf, the least fleshed out character of the three at times. With the various dynamics of the different reincarnations of the 3 who is to say that in well over 10,000 years that Ganondorf was never able to resist or, with the help of Zelda and Link, fend of Demise entirely for that cycle?

I ADORE These Kinda Stories About Ganondorf Not Being Truly Evil But Instead Having Been Taken Over By Something Evil. Even If I Gotta Die On That Hill Alone Ill Never Think Of Ganondorf As Just "The King Of Evil And The Demon King" As He Is Often Called By NPCs. There Is FAR More To His Story Im Sure And It Would Be Nice If The LoZ Team Actually Flushed It Out And Made It Clear.
MY Theory Is That The Original Ganondorf Started Out Being A Perfectly Normal And Good King. He Loved His People And Despite The Harshness Of The Lands They Hailed From He Took Pride In Their Strength As A People. HOWEVER Whether Through Divine Providence, Some Malicious Evil Seeking To Corrupt A Powerful Soul Or Just Sheer Bad Luck His People Fell On Hard Times. This Forced Him To Seek Aide For Them From Another Land If Hyrule That Had Plenty To Spare.
However Either The Request Was Ignored, Or The Trust Was Betrayed And This Started Ganondorfs Original Sin Of Murder And Destruction To TAKE The Land For The Sake Of His Peoples Survival. Because Lets Be Honest, In OoT Yeah He TOOK Hyrule And The Land "Fell Into Darkness", But Did It Really Though? Cause What I Saw Was A Thriving Lon Lon Ranch. A Thriving Kakariko Village, A Perfectly Fine And Healthy Korok Forest And Lost Woods, And A Zoras Domain That Now Supported Proper Ice Flows Ta Would Melt And Become New Fresh Water When That Melt Off Flowed Down.
And Yes, Castle Town Was Fubernucked But Perhaps That Was Strategically Done To Deter Any Challenges To His Throne. I Know For Me Going To Castle Town Made My Anxiety Go Up MORE Than Actually Going To The Castle Itself. Id Have Stayed TF Away If I Came Across A Place Like Post-Ganondorf Castle Town In OoT IF The Game Had Gicen Me A Choice. And I Feel That Was 100% The Point. And This Theme Is Kinda The Same Even Through To BotW. While Ganondorf Is Seen As "Evil" His Actions Like Thanos Lead To A Weird Kinda "Peace".
He FORCES Everyone To Be, Work And Live Together.
Again Look At BotW. In BotW The Gerudo People Are Seen As A Noble Race Because Of Their Natural Strength Ans Fighting Prowess But ALSO Because They Want NOTHING To Do With Their History With Ganondorf. So Much So They Reject Even Their Own Males When On The Rare Occasion Theyre Born. Which Honestly I Think Could Lead To Another Ganondorf Being Born Because How Messed Up Must It Be For A Child To Know Your People Reject You Coming To The City And Royal Caatle Just Cause Youre Male Like One "Bad King" In History Happened To Be Male Like You.
And YES If You Search Around BotW You Can Find A Couple Dudes Who Seem Suspiciously Like Theyre Half Gerudo and Half Hylian....Aside From The Dude Who Gives You The Female Gerudo Clothing. These Dudes And Probably Their Moms For A Time Are Rejected By The Gerudo Society. So Much So That It Seems Like There Are NO Gerudo Males At All. This Isnt True For The Reason I Stated Above, But Its Extremely Different From The Gerudo's Classic Motivations Like In OoT Where They Were Still Loyal To Ganondorf But Accepted Link Because Of His Strength As A Warrior. Obviously They Were Likely Of The Mindset That Hed Make A Good Baby Daddy Since Ganondorf Was Literally The Only Male....But Thats Past The Point.
The Point Is Ganondorfs Actions Drove Everyone Together Into One United World. In BotW Everyone Understands Each Others Plights AND Has Suffered Loss Because Of Ganondorf. He Is The "Big Bad" But In Being The Bad Guy; In Taking That Cross On His Own Shoulders He Has United Nations And Given The Whole World A Reason To Help Each Other, Stand Together And Be As One Rather Than Be Divided Into Many. As For His Evilness Thats Clearly Demise Taking Over And Forcing His Heart To Be Evil. But I Will Never Believe That Ganondorf Was Inherently Evil Right From The Start.
I Believe Wholeheartedly That Somewhere In His Many Reincarnated Lives Ganondorf Has Lost Parts Of The Very Soul That He Had To Start With And What Has Been Left Behind With Each New Reincarnation Is More And More Just A Shell Of His Former Self That Demise Has Been Slowly Filling With Their Own Malice And Hatred And/Or It Has Been Twisting Gaondorfs Hatred Of His Peoples Suffering Into A Malicious Hatred Of Everyone Elses Lives Seeming So Easy And Blessed.
Eitherway Some Place In There I Believe Ganondorf Still Exists, Just Trapped Beneath Layers Of Anger, Sorrow And Corruption To His Soul. Maybe One Day Hell Be Saved And Set Free. That Would Be An Epic Ending To The Legend Of Zelda Feanchise If Ever There Was Going To Be A Conclusive Ending....

It be neat if this aspect made it into BOTW2 where the darker tone the directors mention is more of a tragic inevitability of being unable to save a villain from his curse and that the triforce is what binds the three to suffer a never ending tragedy. They don’t have to friends, but they all come to discover their linage to be filled with needless bloodshed on both sides of history.
