  • From the Church Anarchist blog churchanarchist.com A short video contrasting the institutional concept of church with the idea of a church of believers having non-institutional gatherings yet still being a cohesive group, somewhat like a school of fish.

Finally a brother that is not afraid to kick modern Christianity's idol; a church building! When I try to communicate this same idea everyone I know looks at me as if I'm an alien or treats me like I'm an apostate!

What shall I do? I'm having a headache right now... I think my heart broke. Should I tell our Head Pastor regarding the Biblical church? Where do I find a community of Believers that I can hang out with outside the prevalent Church system? Lord Jesus, please help me.... Believers, please help me.

I love your simple demonstrations of confusing issues. I've asked Christians for decades, "Did you go to family today?" Usually after asking me what church I go to. I've got an question in return one time. Sad.

I like that where you said: "What family do you go to? What time does family start? Look at that beautiful old wooden family." It makes a good point clear. One doesn't normally spend time with family just a very few allocated hours per week. We also read that church meets daily in the book of Acts. God's presence should be manifest when we meet as God's family which would also make us WANT to meet daily.

The problem is that church is immediately the wrong word for what is stated in the scriptures, which is ecclesia, which means congregation. People are added to the congregation or others in Christ upon conversion in Acts 1-3 and the head of the congregation is Jesus who is in heaven as of Acts 1. So membership is dependent not upon each other, but being in Christ, which connects them to others in Christ. Rom.12 and 1 Cor.12.

I have found myself lost to men in this kind of thinking. I use to fit so very comfortably into my old thinking. But in these new revelations I have become a outcast amongst my traditional thinking friends. I have a hard time trusting and believing anyone. All my truths have become myths. I use to passionately knock on doors and lead bible studies for my so called church. But now I cry to God, In all these things I have done so much damage when all I ever wanted to do is bring Glory to Him. Please, please hear me. Don't teach anything unless you know it to be one hundred percent truth.

So if church is spritual family then you may need to do following:-
    1. You have to leave your old family if your family members don't want to leave their old church building.
    2. You have to stop giving your salary like any kind of earnings to your old family head , instead of that you have to handed over to the new spritual family members without fail.
    3. You may need to leave your old family and join in new spritual family.
4.In your new spritual church, family members shuld share their properties and all kind of monthly earnings must be distributed to everyone according to their need.
    5. Everyone should work for new spritual Church and get the financial share from church.
    6. Offerings shuld be collected only for the purpose of helping other spritual church like you which is far away, not for your own spritual church and this offering shuld not to be continued, it's shuld start and ended, there should not be any kind of other offerings.
" If you are really wanted to make spritual disciples family as church which mentioned in bible then you can not make perfect without following our early church activities."

I see your point but historically the English word church is a deliberate mistranslation. It has never properly meant what the Greek word it has been used for means. A rule of the translators for the KJV was that the word church would be used instead of the word congregation, congregation being the word Tyndale used.
So the English word "church" has never properly belonged in scripture. It has always referred to a religious institution, even before the bible was translated into English.
I'd prefer people abandon the word church & use the best translation "assembly" instead. I know it won't happen but if you do read assembly in scripture in place of church there are dozens of reasons it makes scripture make more sense.

MIchael, yes you're quite right. What I was going for was really an attempt to illustrate how our CONCEPT of church has changed so I kinda took some liberties with the whole word thing because I didn't want this to be a word study video, per se. Originally I started off by talking about Ekklesia but that's such a big topic it really needs its own video (or videos). Hopefully the point still comes through without getting too muddied.

    • @rorywynhoff1549
      @rorywynhoff1549 Před 5 lety +1

I whole-heartedly agree. The word church has too much baggage in an institutional way to communicate what ekklesia really means.

effective communication! Re: videos, very artsy and effective critiques. I agree with the video's messages… those which I watched.
Personally, I have moved on from critique and am fully focused on fruitfully forging an alternative way.
Forgive me IF I sound skeptical, but I find it is easy to critique others, it takes little courage to do so, especially by internet vs. face to face. So, when I see stuff like this, I have questions like...is this critic also fruitfully taking action. Can he/she/they show an alternative, have they sacrificed to live this out? Do they have a reality rather than theology?
I guess I am generally skeptical because so many do this out of pain caused them by the church. For example, "Simple Churches" in U.S., in my observation, tend to be filled with hurt and angry Christians who reject the Christendom church, yet rarely produce fruitfulness in terms of fulfilling the Great commission or commandments to love others as yourself.
I understand that and have empathy for that hurting heart.
The word you use in the title... "real" church betrays your angst and comes off arrogant. This minimises the credibility of your message.

So you say, but where two people have earnestly requested what you mean, you've avoided having any further communication. Rather you, like the Pharisees of Jesus' time, come express from indignation and leave, because you quote with nothing more than your imagination. Elkabong you are unable to back yourself with any valid arguments but rather simply want to feel like you stand with some authority. Are you not the fool, your lack of substance is pointing you out, as the shadow you stand casting.

      Matthew 13
31 He put another parable before them, saying, “The kingdom of heaven is like a grain of mustard seed that a man took and sowed in his field. 32 It is the smallest of all seeds, but when it has grown it is larger than all the garden plants and becomes a tree, so that the birds of the air come and make nests in its branches.”
Ok, so, how does anything said in this video fly in the face of these verses? I don't see it, but it wouldn't be the first time I'm overlooking something, so please explain it to us.
