As a balladeer he was the first, one thousand miles ahead Johnny Hartmann, Frank Sinatra, Mel Torme or wherever else. Bronner loved Mark. They made together two masterpieces, in 2002 and 2007, the last magic Mark's creative period. Great!
So so so beautiful. I think this is the best recording Mark ever made. Till is brilliant and the string arrangements are out of this world. How I miss the wonderful Mr Murphy.
Oh my God, that two-minute intro featuring Till Brönner on trumpet really sets up a spectacular platform. And Murphy delivers handsomely. A gorgeous arrangement.
Most things in life are replaceable.....a broken watch, an old car, some favorite clothing.....then there are the irreplaceables....a broken relationship.....a beautiful performance such as this.....2 musicians just on the same stream...totally in step with each other......why couldn’t Mark Murphy live forever???????
