Brüggen-Bracht ammunition depot - Walking Tour | Excursion destinations
The Brüggen-Bracht ammunition depot was an ammunition depot of the British Army of the Rhine in the district of Viersen. It existed from 1948 to 1996 and was at times one of the largest ammunition depots in Europe. From 1945, the British Army of the Rhine used the area to detonate unexploded ordnance, which often led to forest fires. In 1948, they began to fence off the area and develop it into the largest ammunition depot in Europe. From 1952, the site became a restricted military area, to which only foresters and forestry workers had access apart from military personnel. After being abandoned in 1996, the former ammunition depot became the property of the NRW Foundation and was declared the Brachter Wald nature reserve in 2000. There is a 30 km network of hiking and cycling trails in the nature reserve, which are marked with white posts. There are also three hiking trails: the trail to the north is marked in blue, the trail to the east in red and the trail to the southwest in green. Leaving the paths is not permitted. Dogs must be kept on a lead at all times and the barracks area has been converted into a campsite, the Heide-Camp. The officers' mess rooms are used for catering. Hallo Claus, was Du so alles heraus findest und den Zuschauern zeigst, ist schon super. Schade das hier so wenig Kommentare sind. Das Bild ist auch etwa Blass / Milchig. Die Kameraführung ist super und auch schön ruhig. Das gefällt mir gut. Wenn Du jetzt noch mit einer besseren Bildqualität (4K und 60 FPS) aufwarten würdest, dann bekommst Du auch sicher mehr Zuschauer und damit auch Kommentare. Von Heidhausen aus kommt man auch durch den Brachter Wald zum Grenzübergang "Der Weiße Stein" in Beesel/Reuver-Offenbeek. Vor einiger Zeit war dieser Grenzübergang noch geschlossen, weil da zu viele LKWs durchbretterten, doch jetzt ist er wieder geöffnet. So hat man zum Übergang Venlo/Tegelen und Roermond/Swalmen noch eine Alternative. Ich habe diese Route erst vor wenigen Wochen für mich entdeckt.
