I used to turn large asbestos pipe to fit resistance wire ,for variable resistors, no mask, no extractor....76 yrs old now,escaped any ill effects?
The aluminum has lots of holes in it due to impurity and gas. I found that if you make ingots from your scrap much of the impurity separates when you remelt them. Use of flux and degasser before skimming the slag works well. In addition poring thru a screen dam will leave you with very nice result without holes.
In Britain, nothing like this is taught in schools. The health and safety nuts forbid it. We don't make things in our country, we just import it ( which explains our apauling trade gap) 😢
Or while your at it why not pony up 50k usd for a used live tooling cnc, another 10k in tooling, and a proper melt furnace, and better stock material? HE DOESNT HAVE IT.. and hes not gonna chop up what he does have when what he is doing works just fine. When you post a vid making what he does with what hes got then you will get respect.

Mount an allen key socket in your tail stock. No bogus pounding an allen key and likely getting it off centre...
