The patchouli in this a special form held captive by IFF, it's super refined: special molecular distillation of Patchouli which gives a more clean version, with a drier, woodier character than the regular essential oil. I think the formula is over 50% of this patchouli material. I also get more suede than leather in this. Thank you for the review! My favourite and only Frederic Malle fragrance, although I have a soft spot for the moon. I think it is their best. I agree with the lack of sweetness, but I personally love drier and less sweet fragrances but that's all personal taste I guess.

The first time I smelled this the picture I got in my head was of Edmond Dantés, from the Count of Monte Cristo, revealing himself to Mondego shrouded in darkness, just before getting his revenge. Maybe I’m just weird but that’s the picture I got. Now I’m feeling inspired to purchase this as a “just for me “ fragrance and plead ignorance when my wife complains. I Found Out About Frederic Malle In December 2022, I Was Just Searching For Something New, As I Was Mostly A Acqua Di Parma Guy On A Three Bottle Rotation With A Few Others, And Wanted Something New. So I Got His Frederic Malle Essential Collection For Men, I Was Wowed With Monsieur That I Ended Up Buying A Full 100ML Bottle Two Days Later. I Also Recommend Musc Ravageur That Will Be My Next Full Bottle In The Coming Months. Also Check Out Portrait Of A Lady. Try Them Out And Like Everything In Life You Need To Enjoy It Before You Buy A Full Bottle. Cheers !

Would you mind testing some Pierre Guillaume fragrances ? My favorite is Eau de Circé. Only fragrance that completely moved me first time I smell it. I was in love
I'd really love you to test out some fragrances from the "Orto Parisi" house, the same nose as Nasomatto. I can suggest, knowing your taste, Boccanera, Stercus and Terroni. You won't be disappointed, as always great reviews!

I just purchased Rouge 540 Francis Kirkjan its expencive but its fantastic I like it alot really potant only need two sprays for the whole day smells alot like Oud For Greatness but Rouge 540 seems a little more loud an projection is stronger but they do have a similar smell and sent I also got mansarah Hindu kush on the way blind buy but It was highly recomended. ..

Was the Tom Ford you’re talking about Patchouli Absolu? I waited a long time to pick that up - it’s another they discontinued. I got a deal at the Lauder outlet store. I have been picking up some of these Frederic Malle fragrances lately and I’ve been liking them. I’ll have to check this one out.
Malles Monsieur is one the best creation from the house and from perfumer Bruno Jovanovic, his another outstanding creation for the same house is sadly discontinued Dries van Note. I dont see it gothic, it is dark and mysterious and totally classy also, not for young audience. I just ordered you new box set to finally tried all of your creations but I was a bit sad the set doesnt contains your Patchouli Noir, I adore patchouli so much.
How about Nefs by Nishane? (I'm going to keep bugging you, at least until you give in...lol!) On a side note, I purchased Onyx, which is lovely, btw, but do you offer discovery sets? I'm personally interested in Oud and Forbidden, but I would like to sample them first. Cheers from Detroit!
@@patrickbateman4541 I'm not sure which intense are you pointing at but I can still help. Valentino uomo intense is available on their official website, anyways it's rarely found at discounters. Dior Homme intense is widely available nearly everywhere.
I suspect at EDP Frederic Malle the marketing department really isn't in tune with the actual fragrance team... They might just be doing their whole different thing and not bothering syncing it. They've had a lot of odd names recently.
You actually ruined this one for me (in a good way). I switched from this to your Patchouli Noir after i tried it. This one felt more piney and less full compared to yours which probably makes no sense. 😃
It's actually called Monsieur because when Bruno Jovanovic worked on the fragrance, Frederic Malle used to just call him monsieur.

You should try Tiziana Terenzi Laudano Nero. It is a sweet, smoky oud with patchouli, cashmere and rum. Very sexy.
