    Congratulations on the ambassadorship! Wins like that don’t come along every day. It pays to be friendly, persistent and patient. It also pays to find a cherry C172 and a top gun AME. 👍

    A few weeks ago I came across your first “hanger” video and have come to look forward to every one documenting your project. I wish I had gotten my pilot certificate but finances never allowed it. At 70, I am now too old with medical issues, so I must fly vicariously through people like you who are absolutely informative and entertaining. If you are ever in the Cincinnati, Ohio area let me know. Thank you for the series. Calvin

    Glen...the skin and interior of that aircraft looks outstanding. You'll piece together an adequate panel no problem now with the sponsorship and connections....wonderful! Think about it this way...anything and everything you do is an upgrade. It's a charming and beautiful retro aircraft.

    So excited for you to be able to fly with a Dynon system and represent the brand in Canada! I know how what a task it was to design, fabricate, and install the instrument panel in my homebuilt; I anticipate a LOT of video with some highs and lows. But man when you flip the switch for the first time and everything lights up, its quite a feeling!

    I'm happy they worked out an agreement with you. You get one of their panels installed with a significant cost savings, they get someone passionate about their system using it and able to provide first hand testimonials to anyone else you talk to looking to do any updates to an airplane.
    Win/win.

    Have you given any thought to installing an angle of attack (AoA) indicator? There are some nice ones from Alpha Systems which allow you an easy view of the indicator to know how close you are to the stall, regardless of airspeed. This might come in handy when operating in the backcountry if you're taking the aircraft camping.

    Looking at your switch configuration I would recommend that you separate your Strob/Nav switch or make it a three position switch of off/nav/nav+strob. Last night I was flying a 1962 C-172 and noticed that the beacon and strobes was on the same switch. having strobes on during the taxi is just bad form. Beacon is required at night as is nav lights. But you don't want to flip your strobes on (especially those super bright LED ones) until right before taking off. Just my suggestion. I like your channel and have subscribed.

    Congrats. I’d like to make one point. Between the Garmin g3x touch and Dynon skyview, there really isn’t a large difference in price. If reviewing a full panel from each brand, you will likely end up within 2-5k of each other. Remember, we are still installing Garmin, king or avidyne radios for an IFR equipped bird.

    • @GlensHangar
      @GlensHangar  Před 2 lety

      I get it - but part of the decision for any and all aircraft panel systems is how intuitive the pilot finds the interface.

    • @prodigalpilot
      @prodigalpilot Před 2 lety

      @@GlensHangar sure is, and every person is different. I have a heavy bias towards Garmin, but Variety is good. Just wanted to make the point that cost is likely not a major decider in the end, as they both end up being pretty close to the same cost in the end. Though I will concede, the difference does VFR only bird is likely larger than a full IFR panel.
