Harley Motorcycle Tank Dent Repair [Paintless Method]

- Paintless dent repair (PDR) is often a preferred method for repairing dents and dings in vehicles because it preserves the original paint finish. This is especially important for collectors, classic cars, and high-end vehicles, where the value of the vehicle can be significantly affected by the condition of the paint.
Using PDR to fix the dent on the Harley Davidson gas tank was a good choice because it didn't require the use of fillers or bondo, which could potentially harm the integrity of the new custom paint job. PDR is a skilled technique that involves carefully manipulating the metal back into its original shape using specialized tools. It's a less invasive process than traditional repair methods, and it can often be more affordable than other repair methods.
In summary, PDR was the best choice for repairing the dent on the gas tank because it preserved the factory shape, avoided the use of potentially harmful fillers or bondo, and was a more affordable solution.

That's pretty impressive man. Hats off to you
Just about to say that
The lamp is a freaking great idea!
Didn't notice it at first but having the lines projected makes you able to really get in there. 👌
Yes it does!
My thoughts exactly! Brilliant! I've learnt a new trick. I think I will try to make one from a computer screen backlight panel with strips of tape.
Anyone know what this light is called?
@@calysagora3615dude its a two dollar light clear plastic with Niko lines will do U aint real brite is ya boi
@@calysagora3615 hey I had the same question about the light didn't look like a $2 thing like cok Suki's said. Frankly anyone that spells boy like that won't get wasted Time from me.
Exactly what I was thinking 👌🏻
These PDR guys are on another planet unbelievable work
Not PDR. He ruined the paint
@@mrimpalarider1606 I guess it's the way you look at it the paint was hammered or beat up before he started hence the dent in the tank he removed
I think he spent way too much time because it needed to be repainted anyway
@@thomashamilton9864 Harley-Davidson doesn't produce anything for the evo anymore and they haven't for over ten years now... the reason why I know this is my local Harley-Davidson dealership contact my shop to do all of the repair work.
@@joshhoehn and you sir are the reason im sorry that You tube is no more than a cesspool of clueless trolls. Best wishes .
Superb work, I admire dent repairmen. I've had my SRT worked on multiple times. Most recently a year ago, was on the way home, had a rock truck cut me off, turned in front of me, as he did I heard a thud as I ran over something.
Next day I was getting my mower out, turned and saw a thumb sized dent right in the front of the hood, about 1/3 of an inch from the edge of the hood. No way to get behind it, I figured I was screwed and would need to have it filled in and the entire hood painted.
Nope, my dent guy had me bring it to his shop (no mobile service for this one) and he worked it for about 45 minutes and got it back to flat. It had cracked the paint, so he used a little of my touchup paint, unfortunately it was so humid that day that it was taking forever to dry, or he would have done all the feather-touch sanding to get it looking factory fresh.
It's quite the art form. Mad respect.
Impressive I think patience is key here most of which we don't have
Did the same thing to my tank, almost bought a dent puller or one of these... Got a rubber mallet and dished both sides out and it turned out pretty good
Great work. Loved the plate you fixed to the fuel sender hole for leverage.
Glad you liked it! Thanks 🙏
I love how the far the the whole paintless dent removal process has come, and turned it into an artform!
Still needs to be painted but that took skill
The reflection lines - genius!
Exactly what I was looking for in the comments! I thought I was the only one who was impressed by that.
Reflection lines are common on PDR. It's like szying "using keys to start your car, genious" not.
@@broderp Damn dude, you must have a big ass ladder for that high horse.
Hell I have family members that've spent their entire lives doing autobody work and painting motorcycles and the only time I've ever seen something like that is in 3D modelling to check surface normals.
Step off.
@@broderp😂 exactly bro i don’t think these dudes no wtf they are taking bout
That's one hell of a skill man!!! Salute to you bro!
Usually these PDR guys hate it if you try to watch them work. Awesome
That is art at its finest, great job
Dang this is like art !!
Золотые руки у мужика. Я бы так не смог, просто бы мелкие повреждения зашпаклевал бы...
ok..that was slick AF.....i like how the light shows the lines of the tank...takes guess work out of it...
THE COOLEST AND BEST TOOL YOU USING? THAT LIGHT!!!! holy cow... when it dawned on me how it was helping, i was blown away. Whoever thought up of that idea... just wow
Thats some true craftsmanship
これは凄い😮👏
Patience plus experience RULES HERE ,SEEN some fabulous metal work like this since I was old enough to know what was going on mostly on aircraft
Man. You are a magician.
Beautiful work ✊🏾🔥
[Paintless method] proceeds to ding the shit out of it requiring paint
No the huge scratches didn’t dictate the area needed paint. It was perfect huh
Bigredtruck42 more like bigreddumptruck42 ppl like bigdumptruck are the reason the world is going downhill fast lol wtf
The scratches were already there
This man is an artist.
Coming from an experienced dent tech that was very nice work my man and you earned my subscription!
Appreciate that! 🙏
Hell yeah. I didn't know what to expect at first, of course I have questions about his technique, hammering on the outside, heat gun and such. Though in the end the results speak for themselves.
I mentioned this in another person's comment, but that light is exactly how you check surface normals in 3D modelling, except it's the surface that has the pattern on it. Super cool seeing it deployed here, and I bet it's the inspiration for the digital version.
Good point!
Now thats skill right there. Never seen a scrapped tank without a dent super cool
A masterpiece of repair work, you'd never know that it was dented if you hadn't seen it before the fact! 👍🏍️😁🤓⭐⭐⭐❤️ Doug
Dent removal always amazes me. Hats off to you.
I've tries doing this, went and bought a ton of tools too. It's SO MUCH harder than it looks. This is definitely a skilled trade.
Well done. Glad to see someone posting their own content.
The modern day artist!! Respect!
Im flabbergasted. Ive never seen anything like that. The organization, the tools, the setup. Especially the lighting strips.
That’s nothing short of amazing. Absolutely artistry in craft 😮 Incredibly well done, sir!
Mad skills! That was some amazing work!
I have never seen a lamp used like that in body work it's genius. Normally I see them using an air pressure setup for tank dents but this was awesome. I imagine the level of control is significantly better this way.
Whatever that light indexing system - it’s friggen brilliant.you got the tools; you got the talent.
Mucho impressive job!! You're a true craftsman!! 👍👍👍
First, i see a guy with a machine to fix a dented aluminum rim that hit a curb, now this. Man tools are on another level these days. I want one.
TOO KOOL 2 WATCH The Magic working! Nice Work!!! Thank You, J
That's pretty amazing, you sir have skills like a Jedi master
Thank you! Cheers!
Wow, very impressive. Great example of using the right tools for the job.
didnt know this exists and have been replacing ton of bend gas tank on motorcycle so often because they were so cheap $40 else and this video got me thinking there is someone who does bending tank back in shape neat
You are very talented. It amazes me how many times I'm like, no way he can get that out, and you prove me wrong every time.
Goddamn son. That shit is professional & skilled
I have always wondered how these repairs were made. Thanks for the knowledge!
That light setup is genius with the light stripes
I could watch this all day
That's some serious skill!
That light is amazing the lines really show you what needs to be bent back
That was some fine work young man, mighty fine !
It’s crazy what a GOOD pdr guy can do! This is a art that not everyone can do! I have seen a couple good ones and a LOT of bad ones. Just because you buy all the right tools they don’t make you good at it.
Meu patrão você é mágico?? Que trabalho perfeito
Man that's alot of work! Great job!!!
Annnd ready for paint prep. Man I love humans, even more so when they are masters at their craft.
You sir are a wizard.
Looks like another satisfied customer!!
Love to see professionals at work
I'm impressed by the work and the specialty tool! Hot to get me some of these!
Excellent work ❤ skills that pays the bills 🤙🏻
Amazing work I almost did this when I got out of school for autobody
SUPER! I'll have to keep you in mind.
Perfect job! Congratulations!
Greetings from Southern Brazil.
That’s a awesome setup I’ve wrestled a few tanks over the years this is definitely how it’s done nice work 🤙
That is absolutely amazing the skill you have learnt in a lifetime that's really good
Well done sir ,not many do motorcycle tanks ,brilliant 👏
Thank you.
Anybody who can work metal like that always amazes me.
when you have experience and right tool. it fun and easy. amazing work sir 👍👍👍
So easy when you have the talent and correct tools! Great job!…
Nice work ! , Good job !
Holy CRAP! Nice work!

Trabalho sensacional. Você está de parabéns.
That's pretty amazing peice of work .
Saudações do Brasil PARABÉNS excelente trabalho 👏👏👏👏👏👍
PDR is a great skill to learn!
Fascinating. Watched it twice.
That’s just amazing 🤩 just goes to show metal does have memory to it.
Thank God for people like you 🤙🤘💯
Man that's awesome. Attention to even the tiniest of detail. That's a life skill there. Being able to make it look as if there was never a dent. 👌
I appreciate that!
@@denttime I give credit where credit is due. If I tried to do what you do there would probably be more dents than what was there initially. Lol
That piece you clamp on the filler hole is sweet wish i had one when i re did a tank for my dad years ago
Thanks. Yes it helps a lot.
Man I would never have the patience for that. Hats off man, that looks good.
I’m very jealous of your tool box. 👍
Thanks 👍
O primeiro que vi' tirando o amassado' muito bom.
I don't understand how the fancy lights got the dental but I still think it's really cool!
Even though it's all scratched up; I'd rather have a bunch of scratches in a big dent I think!
That light that he’s using sure does fucking help a lot holy shit
Nice work man! Need this done to my suzi
素晴らしい仕事!respect!
I had no idea that was even a thing. Very cool!
Lines in that lamp is next level and I so would have loved it when I was working in my trade
I use to do body work for car lots and the dent guy and interior guy absolutely amazed me. The dent guy used the old school way like this and some of the dents I saw him get out without even cracking the paint we’re really bad
Brilliant work!
Incredible craftsmanship
Impressive. That lamp was smart, with lines
Holy chit brother that's insane GJ!!!
The use of the lines is a very good idea
Trabalho incrível parabéns 👏👏👏👏👏
Nice job! Great musical! 👍
like an artist, good work 👍😁
