  • Testing a Crown MacroTech 600 amplifier which I gave an extensive maintenance job before it gets shipped to it’s new owner. Also did a minor repair to fix the turn on transient on the outputs that seems to be a common problem with these older amplifiers.
Older than me but still rock solid and great sounding amplifiers!
If you’re located in Belgium or a country nearby, I still have a macrotech (Amcron) 2401 and QSC PowerLight PLX3102 for sale.
    Thanks for watching!

Weird how it lights up? mine doesn't light up like that!
Theoretically according to the technical manual, the red diodes only light up after 4 seconds (The amplifier has just been turned on, and is still within the four-second ignition delay)

Heyhey, I’ve had 6 macro techs and used many on other productions, they all do this, if yours doesn’t it sounds like somethings might be wrong with it.

@@funkacise2014 yep, sounds about right! The red ones only go out/ dim when ODEP limiting occurs

it's really weird, when I turn on the amp for the first time, and it's cold, the red diodes are off, and you turn on after 4 seconds (security test measure) On the other hand when I turn on the amp second time the red diode lights up right away, (does not do the safety test) I think it must have a capacitor or something like that, which causes it to light up differently depending on , how do you turn it on, can you look at that maybe?

@@funkacise2014 Nowp that’s normal! The red lights come on when the ODEP circuitry has power, if the unit has already been powered up recently the ODEP lights come on instantly. All macro techs I’ve come across do that, so sounds like normal behaviour to me :)
