How JMB Aircraft creates the VL3 915; from design concepts to finished airplane - S03 E08

  • In September 2020, I had the privilege to fly the VL3 at Teuge Airport, the Rotax 912 ULS version of this beautiful airplane. JMB Aircraft picked up on my enthusiasm and invited me over, to visit their facilities and eventually fly the even more spectacular VL3 915! See full description...
    The story of this trip to JMB Aircraft started at the AirFair at Teuge Airport, back in September 2020. I enlisted for a demo flight in their Rotax ULS (100 hp) powered VL3. During enlisting for the demo flight, I asked them if it was OK to document the flight on camera and to do an interview with the demo pilot. Little did I know it would be one of the most exciting flights for me in a Micro Light Aircraft.
    JMB Aircraft, the manufacturer of the VL3, liked that episode so much, that they invited me over to their factory in Choceň and airport at Vysoké Mýto, both situated in the eastern part of the Czech Republic. Not only was I allowed to see and film a lot of their designing and production processes and to share the company's history, I was also invited for a test flight in their fastest VL3 yet; the VL3 915! This VL3 is powered with a Rotax 915is, an engine that produces an excess of 140 horsepower.
    All in all, I had a very exciting couple days in the Czech Republic, which yielded 70 GB of raw video and audio footage. Of that huge pile of footage, I hope to release a total of three episodes. This video is the second one, sharing the creation process of their popular VL3 Evolution and VL3 915.

    Ever since I received my pilot license, I shared my passion for aviation with a lot (and I mean a lot!) of passengers! Because I enjoy sharing my aviation passion so much, I would like to share it with the rest of the world too! But since taking on 7 billion people as my passenger isn't really practical, sharing my passion via CZcams is... ;)
    Where a lot of aviation channels on CZcams focus on General Aviation at the west side of the Atlantic, my channel focuses on Light Sport Aviation in Europe, primarily Holland and Germany. Light Sport Aircraft are also known as 'Microlight Aircraft' or 'Ultralight Aircraft'.
    The reason I make these videos is to exchange aviation stories and learn and improve by sharing. And because I love to share!

    1. Very enjoyable 'interview' format, where we hear the subject expert without also waiting through asking of the question. 2. Effective video editing, switching between parts of the subject, sometimes at remarkably appropriate points during the discussion. 3. Outstanding subject aircraft-- this is the kind of airplane that excites this owner of a Skystar Pulsar III.

    The company is amazing. The VL3 is one of the modern ultralight/ LSA aircraft. Unmatched and unreached by the competition. To me one of the best aircraft products in the ultralight market, you can buy. Of course it’s money, but for this high end quality and performance still a bargain. The design and high finishing standards are outstanding. Great story behind the history, that makes the success of today I guess. Hopefully we will see a four seater some day also. Good luck to the way in the future. Keep on going. Great work and congrats to the whole JMB Team.

      I have a Glasair SII-TD 0-360. Mine seem a little longer and thinner. It’s not a complaint just an observation.
      I wonder if they are a little stiff at higher airspeed?
      It’s a wonderful aircraft the wing roots and the tight gaps being a few secrets to its high speed imho.

    • @ForFunFlyer
      @ForFunFlyer  Před 2 lety +1

      @@ashsmitty2244 Oh, no offense taken 😉 The ailerons are perfect sized. I flew this VL3 manually low and medium fast, and the conplete control of the plane felt just like it should. At high altitude and speed, we enabled the auto pilot, to simulate a far cross country flight. So no, the ailerons aren't too big to my taste, just perfect in all flight regimes 👌🏻

      Not even 5% of a copy. A totally different airplane. And much more developed. High performance brings a special design, the way it looks. The origin is from the Czech Republic and far away from Lanceair. They did not have this in mind for sure.
