Recorded live at the Fillmore, San Francisco, 1968
before the band signed to Columbia Records
CD 2013, Bonus DVD, Live - Hudba
Back when you actually sat down and listened to a whole album. It was a total experience.
Saw them about 1970 in this line up: Elvin Bishop, Quicksilver Messenger Service, It's a Beautiful Day, and the Greatful Dead. All SF Bay Area bands. Concert went on till 3 am.
One of my fathers favorite "hippie" bands of the 60's. Still sound good to me decades later.
Mine too !
Sounds better n good ! ! Groovy n farmout !
When my live-in boyfriend and I eventually split up, the only thing we argued over was the division of our record albums. lol
Those were the golden years when psychedelic music at their best.Gig Harbor,Wa👍👍👍👍👍
Brought back memories. I had a friend who moved to Redding, CA, in 1970. He could pick up the San Francisco broadcasts. He told me that they already had FM stereo rock stations. The station would broadcast a live concert in stereo in simulcast with a TV station broadcasting the video of the concert. I was a bit jealous.
Check out another live recording, “Dreams Of Aspen Trees” 1968.
This is really an amazing recording considering it was made in 68. Recorded almost a year before the band would record their seminal first album, it's a wonderful insight into a place and time now gone. And what makes it even better is that more than a few of these songs NEVER made it onto vinyl, plus they're strung together thematically...a rarity before Pink Floyd came along.
Well worth the listen.
San Francisco when the dream was in full bloom.
SF Sorrow by Pretty Things in 1968 is considered the first concept album or Rock Opera. Zappa did a number of them as well.
I got into my older brothers albums one day and listened to It's a Beautiful Day. I think it was right after it came out. Loved them ever since. Still have the old vinyl in my closet. Music was different and special back in the day. the 50s were cool but the late 60s were awesome and it hasn't ended yet.
Very good music like this never goes out of style!
Something very profound was going on in the 60’ssss..
This takes me back to that Wonderful Time.

Trailblazers of SanFrancisco psych. Some of the hippest hippies of the Haight. This LP is all about the trip.
In 1967 during the summer of love , San Fran was Hippie Central,USA. If you ever go there be sure to wear some flowers in your hair. White Bird is a psychedelic anthem. Love the violin of David LaFlamme. Nothing like some psych music to cool your mind on a hot summer day.The album cover is a trip in itself.
Peace and flower power to you TBDIH , and have a beautiful day.
"The album cover is a trip in itself."
A sexist-racist trip. Not surprising given what hippies turned out to be.
Great Psychedelic band
In 1971 this was and still is the best concert I have ever witnessed. It woke me up to the power of music. Thank You.
Do you have a cousin or something named Timothy ? Wait a sec, his name was Leary I believe. lol
Ya the good ole days $10 got you a ticket to see a great band like this beer and gas in your old barely running vehicle and still have a little left over for a couple of White Castles after the show
I like that
$10 got you into a whole weekend of live music by some of the most iconic bands in history back then! Those were the days!! ✌
I got a real Jefferson Airplane vibe from the first song especially!!! But yes, great Canadian invention, for certain!!! Love White Bird and Hot Summer Day!!! Takes me back to Long Beach Vancouver Island in the late sixties. Some cool people had the self-titled album and we listened and got off on it large!!! Great band, great memory!!! Thx. ❤️🔥☮️
Far out. I'm from Victoria and loved Long Beach in the 70's as it was my first experience with alcohol lol. Only cider but 6% and really fun. Got turned onto Lepplin, Sabbath, Bowie and Foghat on that school camping trip with SMU GR. 8 lol. Green Point. Jesus I remember meeting some older guy with a gun in the glove box of his jeep. No big deal as we're Canadian not American and gun crazy but kinda freaky still.
Excellent album and music!! this album, is something historic!! this is authentic MUSIC!
A Beautiful Day at a beautiful time in life!
Their studio albums were/are great, great, great. I only discovered them some 30 years ago, still...I can't stop getting back to them. But this was a total surprise to me...
Child in time is calling Bombay ;-)
Back to the good old days when music was M.U.S.I.C !!!
This is historic stuff. Wonderfull.
I lived 1 block away in my commune Victorian house. full of Viet Nam soldiers trying to forget, in sleeping bags, Stuff I won't forget, and a life I miss
Music will always be music thats why we call it music . :)
Yeah I love it 😍
Know how ya feel music paused for me 1988 89. I did purchase stuff from early nineties 1st three Pearl Jam albums 1st Counting Crows album. But my Head and Heart have come to bivouacked on the 80's 20's - 50's I'm presently centered and concentrated on 60 and 70's Proto Metal & Punk, Heavy Psych, Blues Rock etc. My point there is such great music just in the 60s and 70s alone. Oh what Pleasure to yesteryear's Treasures !
thanks god for the fillmore
The only place I was curious to visit as a "pilgrimage" the one time I walked in Frisco :D
Spent many nights sitting on the floor....loved that place.
Brings back memories.......
and hallucinations.
psychedelic hypnotic masterpiece before they signed to a record label. I applaud you.
One of my favorite bands when I was in college and still today. Saw them live in Philly in the early 70s as an opening act for The Beach Boys. Unbelievable!!
Lived at fillmore and turk ,when going off at the fillmore,no dough, went to go go room across the stteet
RIP Patti Santos 12/14/1989
:-(
God Bless you Patty. You are eternal.
We took Linda LaFlamme into our band house during her and David's estrangement. She was real close with our lead singer, the late Carla Peyton (Coalkitchen) and André Masotti. I talked to her about ten years ago again she said David had a NEW Linda and she (the first, original Linda) changed her name to Neska Neska, which was a iteration of her middle name. Her organ playing was considered very innovative.
Hearing this it's really a good way to starting a nice day! Although for years I rarely now returning to this type of music I still can't believe I discovered them casually only today, in 2022?!
and me end of 2023...
Never let go!!!🍀
I can't believe I've never heard this before! This is phenomenal!
R B there is so much more out in the music world like this! Open your mind and get on the computer my friend! Fortunately I grew up during this era and loved it.
It is fantastic!
THIS WAS SUCH A GREAT BAND🎉🎉🎉❤❤❤
YES IT'S A BEAUTIFUL DAY TO THE MUSIC.
love this time in my life ...music is now a yesterday ...gone ................Recordings thank God
Thank You! Who could have known that this still resonates today!
Спасибо❤👍 звук,,,,, Блеск,,,, как талант группы🎺🎺🎺
I have to say that this album goes next to the Airplane's Baxters in magnificence. That is a truly bold statement from me but i stand by it.
I cant believe what an ass kick'n band Its a Beautiful Day is.
Terrible shame I went my whole life until today without hearing this album. Damn shame!
Regards from Ody Slim
Ody Slim ,yeap some lost classics psychedelic music,I’ll love till I die👍
From Gig Harbor,Wa👍
better now than never!
@@anthonyacosta5550 Same!!!
Saw them in concert 5 times in the 60's. Always my favorite!
Thank you once again Mr Dream Weaver... this came directly to my phone, and I don't know how! I'm a travelling man and not a techy, think country Joe and Bleeker street.
I'm now on location in the Highlands of Scotland in the middle of (more or less ) nowhere, peace at last, digging your tunage once again. And these guys too, picked up the first album some 30 years back, one of my top 50... I have about 1500 discs now, but it's still up there, always used to reset my mind clock to these dudes!
The last album before bed, if you know what I'm saying. ...
Wish I could return the favour, but I can't. ..
But be assured that you're keeping a fellow hipster sane with your contributions.
If this isn't facetious, keep 'em comin" dude, I'm an aging hippie looking for the stuff I missed, and you have that plus blues s..t that would make guy upstairs shed a tear!!
Enough now, thanks bruv
Rickster.
♥️💚💜💙 It's A Beautiful Day💯🔥💎
Ifirst heard the debut LP, and Quicksilver's "Happy Trails", at 16 in 1970 on mescaline in Tempe, AZ. It became my favorite music for tripping.
Hippie : did you eat Peyote cactus - because mescaline in tablet form is extremely rare & is usually just LSD
@@SeanMcNerney Chocolate mescaline in double 00 capsules was in fact synthetic mescaline derived from the chemical formula found in Peyote. Very common in the late 60s and early 70s. Same high without the stomach ache and nausea. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mescaline look at laboratory synthesis. Same with goes true with Psilocybin.
@@artfuldodger3282 What is it called today? I wanted to try peyote but there is none where I live
@@artfuldodger3282 Really. I did here that was available as a pure crystal back in the day. Crazy chemists......GOV, no likee.
Way back in the day, I had the opportunity to make real mescaline from tri-methoxybenzaldehyde. What difference from the fake stuff. It's definitely a southwestern high. I used to call the mescaline deity Peyote Joe.
this is random synchronicity for me right now....you know that thing when what you need comes after asking the universe for some good...
Same here now
Yep👽
Thanks for posting this live performance at the classic NYC venue ... I had the 1969 LP and played it many times in my psychedelic period ca. 1970 ... loved the music!
Great stuff indeed. However this was recorded at the Fillmore West venue in San Francisco. The band had yet to be signed to Columbia Records, and I suspect a gig in NYC was something that existed only in their dreams at this time.
More cowbell! Love love love this sound. Thanks for posting.
cliche
The sound quality is superb!
Super Beautiful Group!! Legends!!! LOVE!! Thank You!!!
It is a Beautiful Day .....
this must have been a really beautiful day for lots of people way back then in sf… and ir still is, thanks for your channel, great stuff!
Just the right amount of cowbell!
Such a sorrow that Patty Santos, singer ran off with the bass player and was killed in an auto crash too young.
This band should have become a larger hit.
She was an awesome singer and performer. Was perfect for the band.
Wow, love it live! It's a beautiful day, for music! Appreciate you, rock on...
Thanks for posting. Didn't know this existed. Prompted me to buy the album.

very very good old band....................................................................................
Fantastic!
Nice upload! Thank you bro.
Ein grandioses Konzert, von einer einzigartigen Band! ❤😊
saw the movie of this soundtrack [if it's the same soundtrack] - in 1974 - in Wellington NZ - the version of White Bird has stayed with me since then - hope it's on this album
Let's be honest if you have the chance to create and record something as beautifully simple and honest as White Bird .. you do it.
And you don't worry about the rest of your days. Cos you lived. :)
This is rocking the house down coming thru my 1938 Philco 38-1 console radio via Bluetooth. It is vibrating the paintings on the walls in the other room!!!!! Astonishing bass, especially in the opening notes at the very beginning. No other music I've played on that radio ever did that!!! Have always loved their music. THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!
Yess, i can understand why the paint is curling loll
@@muelleici Raw, unadulterated (the Bluetooth is only providing the signal thru the detector circuit) push/pull power with all 12 Philco tubes hot & humming!!!!! :)
It IS a beautiful day

SUBLIME
Wow!
Thank you ^&^
Big changes going on in the Bay area, yep. Ya see, I was moanin about being sent to Venice Beach, to live with my crazy Aunt. I thought the scene was over, bunch of old Italian ladies with black dresses, an bunned up hair, bow legs, and tomato sauce. Was I in for a culture shock, at fifteen, or what!
Finally another album I have. Always have had a fondness for this band. Thanks for sharing!
¡Joya imprescindible!. Esa banda me gusta, desde hace siglos.
This is pure musical mastery - a gem amongst gems...
It's A Beautiful Music
a really great album _ thanks & I hope you have a Beautiful Day!
This band is so amazing!!!!!!!!! I fell in love with "White Bird" the very first time I heard it in the 80s, but I never imagined the band could be so good.
They're definitely a fine progressive band whether or not they would consider themselves to be or whether others would.
I almost Forgot
Thanks
Thank You For the Love and I Like Your Stage name "The Best Dream" - You know It has been a Nice Ride which is even More than a Dream. I been at it for Years .... !!! how about You......Peace steve

Saw IBD with Hot Tuna… Stoneground … best concert ever
This Band Was? So Freaking Amazing🛸👽💥 That They Signed On Too? Columbia👍✌️🔥🤗🎸🍄🐰🌅💨🌻💐🌻💐🌻🏵️🏞️🌊🌄
Not many records as old as their first one hold up nearly as well as that one. Sounds like they were a good live band too. Their other albums are good, but I have to say, they don't have the same magic. That is quite rare.
Just enough great album thank you for putting up so many great albums to listen to thanks buddy
Brings back good memories. Even for the Fillmore West. When the Tenderloin was a steak.
This band sure does now how to play some beautiful music
🏆muy chida ese selección totalmente agusto gracias valedor
