Yes and I like Keith take on Jimmy Buffet who happened to have a Restaurant in Plantation, Florida where one of my older Twin Sister’s Lived called “Cheeseburgers In Paradise Cafe” in the Fashion Square Mall. I Ate There Twice in the mid 90’s with my Wife & Two Kids! I like Keith’s comment also on Rick Derringer’s Famous Song! I played twice with Randy, Rick’s younger brother who was the Drummer in “The McCoys”

If you get to ask Keith Sykes another question, I have one that I've never found an answer to that he definitely knows. I'm told that Alex Chilton got the guitar riff for "In The Street" from Keith which he in turn nicked from a Blind Willie McTell song. What song was that?

    Ladies and gentlemen,
We gather here today to celebrate the life and legacy of a man who needs no introduction, a man whose music and spirit have touched the lives of countless individuals around the world. We come together to bid farewell to the one and only Jimmy Buffett.
Jimmy was more than just a musician; he was a storyteller, a troubadour, and a true embodiment of the laid-back, carefree island lifestyle that he so eloquently sang about in his songs. He brought us tales of margaritas, cheeseburgers in paradise, and endless summers, transporting us to a world where worries faded away with each strum of his guitar.
Born on December 25, 1946, in Pascagoula, Mississippi, Jimmy's journey began in a small coastal town, but his dreams were as vast as the ocean. He started as a struggling musician, playing in bars and cafes, but he had a vision, a vision of creating music that would make us smile, dance, and forget about our troubles. And boy, did he succeed.
Jimmy's music wasn't just about the catchy tunes; it was about the philosophy of life that he shared with all of us. He taught us to embrace the simple pleasures, to savor the moments, and to live life to the fullest. He reminded us that it's not about the destination; it's about the journey, the people we meet along the way, and the stories we create.
As we say goodbye to Jimmy today, let's not dwell on the sadness of his passing but rather celebrate the incredible impact he had on our lives. His songs became the soundtrack of our summers, and his concerts were like family reunions where we danced, laughed, and sang along with thousands of fellow Parrotheads.
Jimmy Buffett was more than a musician; he was a philanthropist, an environmentalist, and a man who used his fame to make the world a better place. His passion for preserving the natural beauty of our planet and his dedication to charitable causes will continue to inspire us for generations to come.
In his own words, "It's those changes in latitudes, changes in attitudes, nothing remains quite the same. With all of our running and all of our cunning, if we couldn't laugh, we would all go insane." Let us remember Jimmy not with tears, but with laughter and gratitude for the joy he brought into our lives.
As we bid farewell to this legendary son of the sea, let's raise a margarita in his honor, and let the music play on. Jimmy, your legacy will live on in the hearts of Parrotheads everywhere, and we'll continue to live life to the fullest, just as you taught us.
Fins up, Jimmy Buffett, and may you forever sail on those endless seas of paradise. You will be dearly missed, but your spirit will always be with us. Thank you for the music, the memories, and the endless summer days.
    Rest in peace, Captain Jimmy.

But apparently all those years of fun in the Sun and the tropical lifestyle took its toll he ended up with skin cancer about six years ago but sadly it turned into lymphoma. OG this is one of my favorite interviews as you just laugh along with Keith. He is so great! He wrote some of Jimmy’s best songs! Volcano, etc… In 1979 I was 16 and could drive a car. I saw Kiss, Jimmy Buffet, Atlanta Rhythm Section, BOC, Mother’s Finest, Molly Hatchet, AC/DC, The Doobie Brothers, and a few others. Buffett was one of the best concerts!

My teacher, Ted Irwin, played his D'Aquisto flat top on Margarita ville. Mr Buffet appreciated his help in the studio and would send him $ "Christmas" presents
    Throughout the years.
    Jimmy was like that.

I feel like Jimmy's songwriting is overlooked by everyone. Everyone wants to look at Margaritaville and the whole parrothead "lifestyle" but none of it would be possible without the incredible songwriting. Now, as gar as Keith Sykes goes, there is an under appreciated genius. I was lucky enough to catch him with Todd Snider many years ago in Memphis, absolutely incredible.

Thanks for reposting this video Otis. I just watched your video on drummers and saw this one. RIP JB.
I saw Keith Sykes who opened for Kenny Loggins in Memphis in the late 70s or early 80s. I’m glad to see his smiles and hear his laughter along with yours!
Not long ago, you were in Memphis to see Todd Snyder. My son and one of his buddies (mine too), were going to see him as well. I had watched your video prior to the gig and knew that you were going. I shared your video with them and after the show they sent me a short video of you close to the stage taking a video of Todd during the show! How cool I thought!
I enjoyed the drummer video and your thoughts ring true. I’ ve been playing drums since 1965 and still do. Influences since childhood are Ringo, Charlie Watts, Ginger Baker, John Bonham, and Keith Moon. All of us who have natural timing and rhythm are blessed beyond measure and it is a joy to be able to play any musical instrument! Thanks for all the great stuff that you share with us and “much love to you”.

If anybody ever lived it was jimmy. He was a connoisseur of all that was fine. He had a life most people could only dream of.I think he knew that and didn’t take it for granted. He had a good life all the way.

Happy I got to see. Mr. Buffett before He became a phenomna. Even after He became a larger than life cultural icon , the music was always good. Consolations to those who knew and loved him. And to those who only knew His music ,and also loved Him.

It's a very sad day. Jimmy Buffett was a big part of the soundtrack of my youth. This was a great interview. I'd like to say, to expand on the comments regarding Jimmy Buffett's covering other writers songs. He also had a great talent for taking other major artists hits, Buffettizing them, and making them as good or better than the original, Brown Eyed Girl, Mexico (which I think he is credited for co-writing), Stars on the Water (first released by the writer Rodney Crowell and on heavy rotation at my favorite after work beer joint back in the day), and Southern Cross. I always thought Loggins & Messina's Vahevala (I like that song very much) would have been a natural but maybe it was too close to Jimmy's style.
Again, it's a said day, Jimmy Buffett will be missed. Vios con Dios amigo. See you at the show on the other side.

I have fond memories of listening to Jimmy Buffet's music while fishing off of Islamorada on my future father in law's fishing boat back in the 80's, my first visit to south Florida. I had never been a fan, but Jimmy's music perfectly captured the attitude and culture and there was no better soundtrack.
