- It's been a while friends! Just wanted to upload something to show you guys I'm still hitting the range! Life has been keeping me pretty preoccupied and finally I had time to upload something!
This was a fun range day with some friends and this is just a small snippet of things that were covered! This was shot maybe a month or so ago so a lot of things have changed and stuff has been moved around. I no longer have a comp on my pistol and have just gone to running a stock barrel with the magwell and the Aimpoint ACRO P-1 with stock internals.

this is the kind of instruction I wish more instructors would give people.
My instructor set hit finger between mine and my trigger guard for like 40 rounds until I got the concept down haha
Unfortunately most instructors aren’t newrly this knowledgeable about fundamentals. They just want to flex and don’t really care about how much a student takes away from the training. A true instructor is always a student.

@@aricowens2289 You can still be almost just as fast (and I mean .1 or .2 seconds slower) without knowing. The recoil feels completely different, your sights look different.

Pinning the trigger can be a hard habit to break. But the trigger reset during recoil dramatically improved my shooting and is especially helpful during target transitions. It makes you so much faster that you previously thought possible

Training is so important. It’s good to see LEO’s training. For years I shot on a CCW/LEO range only and the LEO’s there were either some of the greatest shooters I’ve seen or some of the worst, especially when it comes to safe firearm handling.

Training scars are the toughest ones to break. I was taught to pinch the trigger too. Once I figured out how to reset immediately on my AR, it was easier to teach myself on pistol.
I still catch myself wanting to pin on my pistol, but thats bc I haven't had enough practice for it to be completely ingrained

Amazing to really see how used to pinning the trigger (and how hard it is to overcome it) the big guy was. But he had amazing recoil control with those vice hands!

10:25 I got frustrated watching him not get this. Went to the range this morning thinking about it- and same exact problem for me! It’s incredible how hardwired some of this stuff is. Dry fire sessions are in my future. Thanks for sharing.
Look up dryfire mag and if they make something for your pistol definitely try to pick one up. Basically it’s a mag that resets your pistols trigger without you have to build in bad subconscious muscle memory by racking the slide each trigger press. The price is steep but I’d pay it twice over because how much it helped.
Amazing instructions and actually relates and explains on a level that everyone feels like they are building confidence and trust. Such a calm, confident presence he has on the range. Even his explanation and approach is so inspiring and I would be honoured to have a chance to meet, get tips and help me on many levels. 👍🏼🇨🇦
A thing that helped me with instant reset was just dry fire and knowing where my reset happens with my stock Glock 19 trigger. I spent a lot of time pinning the trigger and slowly walking it forward to the reset, and paying REALLY close attention to how much tension was still in my finger. Now when I shoot fast with an instant reset, all I'm doing is relaxing my finger just enough to let the trigger come forward to the wall and my finger never leaves the trigger. I feel like what holds a lot of people back is the mental game of "getting off the trigger" combined with not knowing their trigger well enough so they don't know how much tension still needs to be in their finger to get to that wall after the shot breaks.

Great advice and instruction. I really enjoy how calm, direct and patient you are with these students. I spent 7 years on swat and I would have thoroughly enjoyed taking a class of yours mojo. Just went to the range and noticed I've gotten lazy with my trigger reset, definitely using your advice brother!

I adjusted my support hand grip to the thumb high placement, that you talked about in this video, and it helped me to achieve tighter groups. I'll continue until I have my desired results. The tips work. Thanks from a retired Sailor.

When I started shooting, I was guilty of pinning the trigger. After constant practice and retraining myself to learn how to ride the trigger properly, not only are follow up shots coming faster but just as accurate. This is a great video that helps understand the idea. Another one from Warrior Poet was the one I watched where it all clicked and I got it.
What a phenomenal Teacher this guy is!! The two teaching techniques of putting the mag on the rear sights for sight picture and the other of pressing the trigger for the student are just fantastic ideas! Only so much can be communicated using words. Visualization and feel techniques are so important. Possibly to help someone like the guy closest to the camera with changing trigger press habits, the press and reset can be described as one fluid motion back and forth. He seemed to have difficulty getting his brain to take the “second step” of resetting the trigger immediately. If he didn’t think of this as a “second step”, but thought of the press and reset as one step, it might help someone like him conceptualize the action more easily.
I could so relate to the guy you were helping in this video Mojo. I have the same problem as he does and I could not figure out how to correct my issue. After watching this video I get it. Looking forward to tonight's dry fire practice and my next trip to the range to practice what your demoed. Thanks.

I completely agree with setting the standard and training to the standard VS training to the baby steps. Of course, we're supposed to break the techniques down but teaching to the individual steps places a crutch on advancement and can create hindering habits.
This is analogous to teaching arrest & control or any form of unarmed techniques. The flow of the technique, say a twist lock, gets jacked up. You see folks moving like robots overthinking each step vs allowing the takedown to flow properly and totally ruining leverage and momentum.

Mojo... Your statement that flinching is good is "money". What's great is that you're letting your students know they should be doing it, they just need to wait to do it... such a better message than trying to get students to focus on "not" flinching... Little gem right there people.

This is helpful in understanding what a quality trigger is. Short trigger reset is important.
Im very skeptical of the latest tacti-cool youtube “instructors”..but Mojo is an absolute phenomenal instructor. He breaks things down incrementally, demonstrates, and the students learn by repetition. Hopefully ill get the opportunity to train with him someday.

I haven't even taken one of his classes but Mojo has definitely given me some solid guidance that's improved my shooting. I would love to have an instructor like this help me with iron sighted pistols. I've used optics on almost all of my EDC handguns in the last 3-4 years so I feel like I have a cheat code. There's just something about irons on pistols that fuck me up. I'm fine with my rifles that have irons and all my guns with optics but pistol irons have always been my weak spot.

@@Underbottom.Sandydown Bokeh is a term in photography and videography that refers to subject separation; in this case, Mojo was in focus while the background was a little out of focus. Glass refers to the elements in the lens, primary to these being the glass. These days, there aren’t any bad lenses, just better ones. Mojo’s camera dude definitely got a better one.

Man this is solid advice, too many people teach you to pin the trigger to the rear, ride the reset etc. good for fundamentals and practicing trigger control sure, but it doesn’t provide for a fast shooting cadence. I saw another video recently that I watched that explained exactly this concept that you should not even hear the trigger reset just get off the trigger right away as soon as the shot breaks. Might have been warrior poet society maybe? I forget it. Good concepts though and have to retrain my brain.

Mojo training course and classes is worth every cent
It's really refreshing to let them have some freedom to do what works for them. It shows you teach them each a Lil differently. You guide them more than train them
Yeah I don't shoot with the supposedly "correct" grip they teach these days. I use my own style. It works for me. If I shoot accurately, you can't really argue against it😄

someone watches garand thumb lol. All he does is hold the mag in the pistol. It doesnt lock in place so you just have to hold it in place
