I, too, knew I'm probably gonna like this more than Ponzona, but I still had my worries, about that hook line being too catchy to a point it's boarder line repetitive. I know Kim Dohoon is beyond that, but I was still scared that they might make the mistakes that a lot songs with a super catchy hook line do, letting that be the crown gewel and becomes nothing more than a tiktok hit. This hook, however, is the glue keeping all the wild and colourful gemstones together and shine as a whole on a crown! They make Zombie super easy to listen to, yet also exceptionally unique at the same time. Turning a very well-used schoolgirl concept into something very their own! I dont wanna draw comparison, and this is a very bold statement bc they just debuted, but this song truly could be that next Hip!
Tbh I pretty much ult every RBW artist at this point. For me Purple Kiss Zombie and Oneus Life is Beautiful are in the top 10 songs for 2021 so far~ Their artist is so talented, unique, and participates in their own music production.
Zombie is amazing! I definitely knew even after my first listen that this was going to rank very high up on my song of the year list. The song is so fun, cute, and catchy, and I love the MV so much! I felt a similar way to you about Ponzona. I do like it a lot, but it didnt "wow" me, and is probably my least favorite song on the album. Granted the album had some amazing bsides on it, but Ponzona didnt stick out much to me. However, Zombie is 10 out 10 fantastic, it's exactly what I was hoping for and more!
I think it's fitting that you've somewhat compared Yuki to Soyeon as she herself has said that Soyeon is her role model. (She also said she wants to dance like Momo - so basically she's aiming for the best of the best, lol. No pressure, Yuki). I do think Yuki is on her way to being one of K-pops best female rappers, but yeah... all hail Queen Soyeon for the time being.
Another thing: RBW put english subs within 1.5 hours of release!?!? Someone needs to check if they are feeling ok. This kind of unprecedented promptness is a real change of concept for them 😏

I get SPICA vibes from this song. The way the melody and instrumental are arranged are so SPICA like while also being completely different and unique to purple kiss. Ponzona still holds a special place in my heart but this song is rivaling it, definitely.
