  • I was looking for a way to make slicing my jerky more efficient and I ran across this relatively inexpensive meat slicer on Amazon. It was on my wish list for months, before suddenly showing up as a lightning deal with 15% off.
    Well, I had to pull the trigger and I'm glad I did. Now, while I did struggle with cutting the jerky (I'll have to work up a new technique for that) it did wonders on a chunk of ham that I bought.
    See how it performed!
    You can find it here at Amazon: amzn.to/30vy3pU

    Hopefully this little tip will help. I place just a tiny bit of cooking oil on the feed slide bar and move the feed a few times before placing and slicing food. Makes a huge difference in how smooth the slicing goes and not having it stick and pull as much. Hope that tip helped you or someone else. We save tons of money by slicing our own lunch meats, cheese, and homemade breads. Thanks for a great video!

      I've discovered that too! Huge tip! Thanks for bringing it up :D I use it regularly to cut my jerky meat (another batch tonight)

    The only thing I don't like about mine is it only allows a cut up to .59" (15mm). Don't overuse it. It will overheat. Heavy cheese really taxes it.

      I never tried cheese on mine. I primarily use it to cut sandwich meat and to slice up eye round steak for making jerky. Thanks for stopping by!

    thanks for the vid. have you had a chance to remove the blade? are the gears behind the blade plastic? chef's choice slicer has plastic gears. wondering if this one is the same. thanks.

    • @Rico.at.50
      @Rico.at.50  Před 3 lety

      Yes, the gears are a hard plastic. I haven't had any issues with them yet and I use this every week. Thanks for stopping by!

    Best way to cut meat for jerky is to cut it when it's partially frozen.

    • @Rico.at.50
      @Rico.at.50  Před 3 lety +2

      I used that method in some of my earlier jerky time episodes. It works fine. I have to admit the way I'm cutting it now is working pretty well and I'm very happy with the results. Thanks for the advice and for stopping by!

      I have one of these machines for my lunch meats, cheese, and breads. Have found that if I put just a little bit of cooking oil on the feed bar and move the feed on it a few times before putting your food on the feed, makes the feed slide so much easier, making the slicing easier. Hope that may help any sticking.

    Do you have meat slicer that can cut through bones.

    • @Rico.at.50
      @Rico.at.50  Před 3 lety

      This slicer is not strong enough to cut bones. Just meat. Thanks for stopping by!

      I don' t have the documentation handy, so I am not sure. I would assume it's a year tho. I've been using it regularly for 6 months without any issues. Thanks for stopping by!

      I don't know what you're trying to tell me here. Did you buy one and these issues are what you are reporting? I am not with the company that sold it to you so I don't really know how to help you. It might be better to leave a review for the product wherever you purchased it from. Thanks for stopping by!

    As slow as your cutting with that slicer, should have stayed with your knife cutting, a waste of money spent

    • @Rico.at.50

      I'd have to disagree with you. It serves its purpose very well. Much easier than hand slicing that much meat. Thanks for your opinion and for stopping by!
