Good News and Bad News for the Volvo B9TL bus

2023 is the best year for the Volvo B9TL buses but also the sad year for the bus.
Good news: Recently SBS Transit started to refurbished their old Volvo B9TL Wright Eclipse Gemini 2 buses (batch 1). Not much of the difference except the shiny livery and a new "Stand Clear Of Doors" stickers. Many of these buses will be fully refurbished until the last one is finished (batch 2, 3 and 4)
Bad news: Recently Land Transport Authority was announced that all of the 22 remaining Volvo B9TL CDGE buses (with 2 training buses included) will be fully retired on September 2023. These buses were replaced by the MAN A95 Euro 6 and the Alexander Dennis Enviro 500 Euro 6 3-Door buses. Although there are other countries who have the same body as the CDGE, we are hoping to see at least one bus to be preserved.

They are preserving one of the CDGEs with yellow/teal seat covers at one of the ITE schools. It's even repainted back into the original sbst livery
Technically that's the best news of this video as it is another old bus saved instead of biting the dust

I manage to ride them on service 118, 382W, and 382G but most of the time is service 382W

they actually just wash and clean the bus so the window is kept clean that is clear to see

The CDGE brings back memories
Is best to lta to preserve the cdge in some sbs transit bus interchange or just like hispano habit,the cdge will preserve on hougan bus park. When the future of hougan bus interchange has come out the cdge and k230ub head will preserve same as woodlands integrated transport hub hispano habit and the history of sbs transit bus and bus drivers uniform.
I will miss the Volvo B9TL CDGES😭The nice zf ecomat, spacious upper floor and its nice front upper floor tinted windows. And wow cant believe the Volvo B9TL Wrights are beginning to refurbished. According to the date of registration, the first batch of B9TL Wrights are due for retirement in 2027. Time does fly fast, i still remember as if it was 2020 that the Scania KUBS first got refurbished, now 1 more year till the Euro IV KUBS meet their fate😢Just to point out, all the next few bus models due to retirement will be all ZF Ecomat buses(The Final lot of ZF Ecomat buses in SG)- excluding SMB136C. This is as follow:

Scania KUB Euro IV
Then Likely the OC500LE will retire alongside the Euro V KUBS too and that will be it, the End of ZF Ecomat Public Buses in SG as we motion into a new era of silent buses😔
Also i wonder if SMRT/TTS/GAS will refurbished their Volvo B9TL WEG2 like SBST did🤔

"Nice" ZF ecomat? Sure there is ZF but it sounds more like a vacuum cleaner than the KUB. Honestly dont know why people are calling KUB the vacuum cleaner when this is the real vacuum cleaner. I swear I can hear a CDGE from a mile away. So loud

We all need to play our part to save the planet as it is sick already. We should stop driving racing cars and non electric cars. If you drive racing cars in Singapore, you might get into accident or fine or both. To make it a better planet, we should take public transport. It saves more energy. Buses nowadays are getting 100% electric. Yeah right?

The WEG2 looks so much cleaner and shiner when refurbsihed. The non refurbsished ones are so dirty and the wheels are all black and they are so noisy. Hope to see more refurbished WEG2s in the far future! But its sad to see all cdges getting scrapped after bus after bus. I mean they will get replaced by more eco friendly buses, like euro 6 buses but its such a waste they scrapped the cdges with just 13 - 14 years of their lifespam. The actual lifespam of a bus in singapore is 17 years. Why they scrap so early one sia. 🙁

My prediction for buses that will be fully scrapped by 2023, 2024, or the future:
Scania KUB E4 & E5: Most likely by December of 2023, since it's a CNG bus
Mercedes OC500LE: Guessing on July of 2028
Mercedes Citaro: 2030 (just a guess)
MAN A24: Maybe On April 2028, since Articulated buses aren't that reliable anymore
Volvo B9TL Demo Bus: I think mid to late 2029
Volvo B9TL: Mid 2028

I hate how literally every bus has to be replaced by the stupid company, man. Like there's nothing new and special for man buses. They are just the same thing with the front lights and the rear lights. It's so bland. All I want is a b10m or an Olympian to be produced in the new models rather than stupid man buses
I hate electric bus but I like man bus and byd k9 expect other electric bus companies they make there electric bus no v8 or banger like race car sound just a fly sound or add a speaker pretending that the bus has muscle car sound it just like damb crapmobile or jimmy nutrition new space car
