Art school lingo time! Little cardboard models are called... maquettes. Definitely saves time and effort to make maquettes. I like the Wavy DIY!

These pieces are not my style at all. However I must say in her studio they look amazing. The colors are awesome. My favorite is the coffee table. It looks terrific.

THIS IS THE TIME!! I have honestly put off so many projects out of fear that they won't be like perfection.. No more I'm done with that! I'm going to just do it! I'm going to embrace the happy accidents and imperfections. Knowing that I did the hard work myself! My new motto is I'd rather get it done and not be perfect than never start at all!

Speaking on trying DIY adventures, I saw a painted wood board on Pinterest (and yes, Pinterest made me do it...heheh) and thought “that looks so easy, imma give it a try!” So, went down to the hardware store and bought all the wood, came home and built this beautiful wood board. I was so proud of myself and was like “this DiY stuff isn’t as hard as I thought.” As I was finishing up, my boyfriend comes outside, and says “how are you gonna hang it?” Dang! Wwweeeelllll, what I didn’t factor in was the wood I bought were 2x4’s and when put all together the weight was to heavy to put on my apartment walls. So, I had to start over. Bought some lighter wood so it could ACTUALLY be hung up on my wall lol. Long story long, I made the mistake but learned from it. The more DIY adventures I go on, the more I learn. You got this, girl! Go make your beautiful photo shelves 😁😝

I didn’t like the coffee table as photographed in Domino but loved your version of it. The shapes were terrific and your version also had warmth lacking in the one in the magazine.

Yes Danie, you can say genius. Very impressive! Those should be signed. Hope Alexandra appreciates the care that went into them. Have to say that shop is like a DIYers Disneyland. So generous of that man to trust you with his toys. I love the coffee table and can't figure out how you get the glass under the four lips. Is there one side that doesn't have a lip? But the wavy leg table was such a detailed piece and I think those support pieces actually make the table top more securely seated, so it is my favorite. Great colors on both pieces. Way beyond my skill level but you make it look doable by following your process.

I adore both pieces. Incredible work, especially the Bar cart.
To get your corners rounded on the inside of those curves, try using a small hole saw or a forstner bit on your drill to make the circle first (the diameter should = your slot width so like 1" round hole) and then cut the straight sections with your jigsaw to connect up with the holes. Way easier, and you get a more consistent inner curve than trying to turn the jigsaw at such a tight radius.
Love them both!!! My fave's the chunky one definitely art gallery sculptural - a real show stopper! Great choices and your craftmanship and sense of adventure are inspirational. You rock and they're #So-o-o-o-o-o Domino!
