I just bought this for my 14 year old son who has been playing 4 months on an acoustic. It was between this West Creek Racer and the Epiphone SG at the 200 price point. Same price and I feel like he got a better guitar. Plus that yellow with the racing stripe is an INCREDIBLE LOOK. My son says it looks like the love-child of an SG and a Jaguar. That's all I can see now and I love it.
@2bikemikesguitartopics145 thank you....that makes me smile. Hey, do you have an amplifier that you'd recommend going with this guitar at around $100 US?
@user-ke5tn2qt3h If you absolutely have to stick to the $100 go with the fender frontman 20 www.amazon.com/Fender-Frontman-20G-Guitar-Amplifier/dp/B09SVHD5WW/ref=sr_1_7?crid=2FGL4O8X2EF05&keywords=Fender%2Bamplifier&qid=1700144442&sprefix=fender%2Bamplifier%2Caps%2C314&sr=8-7&ufe=app_do%3Aamzn1.fos.17d9e15d-4e43-4581-b373-0e5c1a776d5d&th=1 Otherwise I would recommend the stretching a little bit for the lt25 that has modeling and a lot of built-in pedals which is a much better experience at 1:59.99 www.amazon.com/Fender-Mustang-LT-25-Digital-Amplifier/dp/B07N29M92M/ref=sr_1_13?crid=2FGL4O8X2EF05&keywords=Fender%2Bamplifier&qid=1700144442&sprefix=fender%2Bamplifier%2Caps%2C314&sr=8-13&th=1
The Westcreek stuff is exceptionally good for the price! You brought this guitar up to a whole new level pf WOW! Great job and great playing bud! Guitar sounds great in all positions!
So your the Mike he was talking about!..Alright!!! I have this Racer and the blue one. I'll have to watch these videos in depth so I can make the mods your mentioning. Very cool guitars for the $$$.
Yup I'm the one. Thanks for coming by and watching I appreciate your support. It was just last year the G-Man was not doing any of this kind of work on his own he was sending his guitars out to somebody else to do it so I taught him how to do it and buy the tools and now look at him go
I really dig that guitar, Mike. Not an SG guy. But these just look so cool - and they are so different. A fresh look on an old classic! Been thinking about grabbing one of these.... but they seem to be out of stock, as has been the case for some time now. So no dice. Just checked again tonight. Anyway - cool guitar, and it sounds great I think. Some nice tones & a solid jamm.
Isn't it cool to be able to take away all the covers and find....good work? At this low price? Quite the find, Mike and, wow, did the buffing really show off your bumblebee! (Gotta get that Ram sticker for it!)
Hey Mike Awesome video, I've been watching several vids on this guitar and I'm pretty much sold on getting one of my own. Where did you get that tail piece from, it really stands out on that particular guitar. I looked below the video and was hoping you might of had a list of things you replaced and where you got them from. Keep up the good work!
Holy smokes these guitars are incredible, just got mine and it's amazing!!! I like the v shaped tailpiece you added and plan to do the same cuz yours look killer and looks like it's meant to be there. I noticed the existing tailpiece is arched, did the v shaped effect the tone or play ability?
Mike great videos .. I have the same guitar and it has quite a bit of a neck dive with a strap. I have a question. I saw you removed the strap button and replaced with a screw .. Where in your opinion do you feel it should go to eliminate neck dive ? Thanks in advance and keep doing what you're doing!
middle back of the neck. But seriously, everything I have ever seen on the SG style is that it has neck dive, It's one of the things you need to suffer with to have this guitar. You might look for a strap that has an underside with a friction surface, like suede leather so it stays on your shoulder better. I took off the button as I don't use straps and didn't want it grabbing on my clothes when holding it.
@@2bikemikesguitartopics145 Thank you much. I've had a Racer for a couple months now. I could never find a radius listed anywhere. I've been buying lower budget guitars for about five years and I've had good to great experiences with them. I just bought, but haven't received yet, a Schecter Avenger Exotic; $850, b-stock. I got it as a semi-retirement present for myself. I'm going to be a bit miffed if I don't perceive it as better than my $200-300 guitars. That's why I got the model I did. Very unique wood style and body design. Mostly perceived as a Metal guitar, but to me, this one looks like something found in the woods and made into a guitar. Anyway, I wish I had your fortitude for working on guitars. My Racer has ONE high fret. I'll get it to my local tech one of these days. I can actually see myself getting another Racer, down the road, in a different color. I got the charcoal color this time. Thanks again.

I ordered the tailpiece on AliExpress. There are a few sellers so you need to look through them in order to find the best deal
In stock now , I have one coming early next month.

Nope not a bit. The break angle is the only thing you have to worry about to your taste

I love it Mike. Love your truck as well. Both look bitchin as the younger people say! Very nice work again my friend!

Hello 👋. Can you confirm the scale length is standrard gibson 24.75?
Yes it is
@@2bikemikesguitartopics145 thank you sir. I've ordered the yellow one 😊

What was the fretboard radius?
I think I said it was 14, as the 14 roller bridge was perfect

Sounds like intonation is off?
It's been a while since I've had it out but I'll go grab it and check it out
You were right, the b string was just slightly flat
You can't hear the complete out of tuneness???
Mike, I found the b string intonation off a tid bit.
Imperative treasure of a channel 🤎
