    Ne Obliviscaris - And Plague Flowers The Kaleidoscope(live), has the two vocals together, it will be a intersting experience. Musically, you'll be astonished.
    If you want something lighter and fun, how about Sabaton - Carolux Rex?
    Loving Alena journey and Brad discoveries. You guys are awesome! Grreting from Brazil!

    Great band, great song! I can understand Alena's reaction. Another band you could do is Ne Obliviscaris - And the Plague Flowers the Kaleidoscope they are also Australian and mix harsh vocals with clean vocals but the harsh vocals can be almost categorised as another instrument and you don't try to understand them as lyrics which changes the way you hear them. This was how I learned to listen to harsh vocals as I could not before, I reacted as Alena does here but now I have no problems with them. The song was describing how photons(light) are created via the fusion reactions at the core of stars, and its inevitable journey towards earth. Its part of an elaborate tale told over the entire Vessels album with its conclusion, "The smoke of Many Fires." Nice to see normies being exposed to great music across all genres, keep it up :-)

  • @nightcris1
    @nightcris1 Před 4 lety +2

    Alena is spot on. The song basically describes the photon (light) production in the Sun, starting from the nuclear fusion of hydrogen in the core, produced as very high energy, interacts again with stuff in the sun, gets destroyed, recreated as lower energy, scatters around, making the sun hotter, then finally escaping the sun's surface and heading towards the earth. The next song in the album is about how the photon hits the earth and what happens on earth - life and all that crazy jazz

  • @amarok9097

    Enjoyed your review. This is from the album Vessels which follows the Journey of a spark of life beginning with its initial escape from the sun. The Photon passes through a number of Vessels (Plants ,insects, animals) and finally finishes within in a man in "the smoke of many fires" (react to it as a bookend to an embers arc)

    • @digitalspecter
      @digitalspecter Před 4 lety +4

      @@BradAlenaMetalReactions Yeah, I also suspect that the duration of the song is not accidentally 8:28 which is pretty much how long it takes for light to travel from the Sun to the Earth.

    Thank you very, very much, Alena and Brad. I really appreciate this reaction. I just love it.
    I knew that Brad would enjoy it, and that Alena would like the instrumental part, but not the vocals. The vocals can be a turnoff for some, but I think it fits perfectly. I have not dug into the lyrics, because this song gives me so much emotions and energy anyway. The best part is probably from 6:26 and to the end in the original video. I just love the energy it gives from 7:26.
    They have more epic songs like this, at least three albums with awesome music. :)
    Thanks a lot again. This made my day. :)

    I must have listened to this track 200 times but it gives me chills every. time. And, even if i can understand how the vocals can be a turn off (i HATED that style one year ago...) it just fits in perfectly.
    As for the lyrics, this track is part of a concept album (Vessels) that tells the story of energy going from one vessel to another (hence , Vessels :p) in each track. From a photon coming from the sun to trees , wildlife and us. It really is a beautifull album.
    My personal favorite song of theirs is (apart from this one :3 ) Countless Skies so i would deffenetly recommend it.
    And from other bands : Gojira - Vacuity ( because i love it and they are French :D )
    ne obliviscaris - Intra venus ( Because Melodeath + Violin, and it has both clear vocals and top notch growls :D )

    Since you seamed to enjoy the style of the song I have to recomend Wintersun. This is another Melo-Death band. Check out their song Sons of Winter and Stars live at Sonic Pump Studios for some heavier/epic tunes and Loneliness for softer ones. A bit bad sound (not all the details are there). They play "Countless Skies" and what I think is "Roots to Sever". This recorded in 2015, and Vessels was released in 2016. They changed the title of that song on the album, they called it Exogeny in this video.

    I'd have to say death and black are my favourite subgenres... but I can never get into Be'lakor's because of the vocals. As someone else suggested... Wintersun is a really good band to react to... I'd also suggest Rivers of Nihil, Ne Obliviscaris and Agalloch - you will totally love them if you love Gojira.

    • @sovex9331
      @sovex9331 Před 4 lety

      @@BradAlenaMetalReactions They are probably better suited for you, but to elaborate a bit more about them it's mostly the instrumentals that steal the show even though the vocalists are really good - but they do have some accessible songs:
      Agalloch - In The Shadow Of Our Pale Companion
      Ne Obliviscaris - And Plague Flowers The Kaleidoscope
      Wintersun - Sons Of Winter And Stars / Loneliness
      What Alena would probably enjoy more is something in the realm of doom metal. I can think of two bands right now, Katatonia and Trees of Eternity. I'm not sure if you made a pledge to react only to metal bands... but I think she would enjoy prog rock more, bands like Tool, Porcupine Tree, Opeth.

    • @sovex9331
      @sovex9331 Před 4 lety

      @@BradAlenaMetalReactions It's quite hard to draw a comparison between prog rock and heavy metal and pretty much anyone who tries to do one just steps on a nail. For me it's mostly in the composition of the instrumentals - don't know if it makes a lot of sense but in heavy metal they are much denser compared to rock and they are mostly used to create a wall of sound.
      Prog rock is a very hard genre to describe mainly because everything that steps out of the box can be considered prog and one band can sound completely different from another one within the same subgenre. Some people might argue that prog means time signature changes, different instruments like violins or electronic sounds... and you couldn't say they're completely wrong.
      Regarding Tool... they are considered an actual rock band but they have so much diversity that they step a lot into the metal realm - and a lot of the times they even get heavier than most of the ordinary metal bands. Opeth I agree with you that they used to be mostly a metal band but they devolved from that almost a decade - Mikael stopped doing harsh vocals and they're not that heavy anymore.
      Porcupine Tree is definitely rock even though in some songs they get pretty heavy... but that's the Opeth influence on Steven Wilson - who was the band's main composer (him and Mikael were close friends back then and also did an album together, he also helped Opeth with sound mixing for a couple of albums).
