Huge machine shop! Amazing how they just stand on the slow rotating chucks whilst items are machined, such a dangerous thing to do!

Half of them probably wanted to die anyway, preparing for a war they never asked for... The other half were prepared to die for their country even if that's on a lathe :P

Mmmmm not exactly true. Britain was far ahead Germany in the precision and invent ivory of German manufacturing in the pre war and wartime period. The Germans just do what the Americans did on a smaller scale. American manufacturing was the king - they benefited from British ingenuity combined with the raw power and scale of the American capabilities.

Yes they were so good at armaments that they become super cocky and that they thought they could just kick the door in with Russia and it would be all over and Russia would become the new Fatherland , didn't work out did it , so all this incredible industrial capacity was a complete waste of time .

distantvoices Australia has already been swallowed by the Marxist scum . the average person now is a convert and doesn't even know he is one , the communists work on the principal of the free lunch and it works every time in every election , democracy now is all about the auction of public finances which really is handing over money stolen from the private sector to hand to the communist trash who don't earn it .

I wouldn't say super cock. Fact is the British and Americans expected them to collapse as well and with good reason, though aid did not save them in 41, that only really got going in 42 and even then it took time to arrive in sufficient quantities to be of any real help - and they were not sent tanks. More like 360,000 trucks and food etc all essential to the war.
