  • I love the SSL SIX for mixing out of the box. In this video, I walk through how I connect my Interface (TASCAM 16x08) to my SSL SiX.
    Cables I’m Using:
    8 Channel 1/4 to 1/4 TRS Snake
2 DB25’s (you can do this without it)
    Hardware Im Using:
Insert Channel 1: 1176 by Klark Tecnik
Insert Channel 2: Ampeg Bass Amp
    EXT2: TC Electronic MultiEffects Unit
I have found that mixing through the SSL SiX can give me a different sound and a more tactile feel when mixing. For me personally, it can help me generate better ideas for modulating effects throughout my mix and adding creative effects.
While there are downsides to mixing through the SSL SiX, I generally like to test my mix through a couple channels and the bus compressor. One of the biggest downsides is having limited channels to use, but for small format interfaces like mine that’s fine because I only have 8 outputs anyway.

Best SSL SiX video on youtube, hands down. Easy explanation and super easy to perceive the settings as you change them. That G Bus Comp really pops - even with youtube sound.

First of all that was some really esoteric ish. Straight different and super creative. Don’t be surprised but that was the first SSL SIX demo that wasn’t a bunch of technical psycho babble. Wait, Psycho! Anyway thanks my dude! You need to be lookin at film and TV. They pay well and there’s plenty of work. Your sound is definitely cinematic.

Hi and thanx, nice work and good vibe! Have you realised that you can process the Main Insert in "parallel" with the original Signal? When entering from E.g "Ext 1" and taking in "Ext 1" switch on "Main" with applying the Insert. Then Record the "Monitor Out" with "Main" and "Ext 1" switches engaged. Check this out and you will love it even further :) In the same time you can also process another signal on Super Analog Channel 1/2 and use that "Insert" in parallel aswell. E. g. Feed "Channel 1/2" and "Alt In" with the same "other signal" and send "Alt In" (unprocessed) to Cue1 and send the "processed" singal to Cue2 (important: leave the Channel Faders at -∞) and do record back on Foldback 1&2. Same time you can also use E. g. "Stereo 1/2" with another signal and route it to Buss B and apply another processing chain, record back from Buss B :)
