    I am 4 months into my 2022 Norden 901. No problems. All is tight. I am amazed at how easy it is to ride on road and off. I have about 800 miles on it now. My gas cap is hard to close also. It takes two hands to lock it in but it seals up good. Tranny was slipping into neutral when going from 1st to 2nd when brand new but now it is good. The dealer said to give it some time to break in and it now it is ok. Easy shift is a blast. You can hold the throttle 3/4 of the way open and click up through the gears as fast as your foot can move. She takes off quick. Motor is loosening up now, seems to be getting faster. Never thought I would be riding wheelies at the age of 60. It is half the weight of my new Road King. The Road King is better on the highway but it has been collecting dust since I got the Norden. It is a hoot to ride. Great in the desert and forest! Worth it even if I have some future light mechanical work. The bike is amazing. Warning: when in the dirt, make sure to set the bike for off road and turn off the rear anti-lock. If tire is spinning in loose sand or on a steep hill, the computer can get conflicting signals and stall in street mode. Not good in precarious situations. Take my advice and switch to the correct mode. I learned the hard way!

      Totally agree. Glad you don't have any problems. I was going fishing and my fishing pole was blowing off the bike. I had to pull over to tie it back down. The road was very busy. So when I was getting back on the highway, I twisted the throttle and could not believe how easily the front end lofted up in the air. It's a fun bike but the problems I had have left a bad taste.

    @MassivelyHeavy Před 2 lety +7

    No gas smell issues although I will be checking my cap after watching this. However…the coolant issue…we’re not alone. My shop (up here in NorTex) went through the bike and finally identified the clamp as the culprit. They actually pulled the stock clamp and replaced it with a heavier one. No issues since….fingers crossed. Also as you stated in the description the wind buffeting up around your head and shoulders is bad…like horrible bad. Identified…several issues with the design of the windscreen which make it so bad. 1. The sharp angle on the sides throws a jet stream square onto your shoulders. It needs to be more curved on the sides. 2. It’s not tall enough nor is it adjustable like a Triumph Tiger for instance. 3. Drafting coming up through the fairing where the forks are. This creates kind of a vacuum effect exasperating #1 & #2.
    I’ve contacted several aftermarket windscreen manufacturers about this and they are eager to solve the problem because the 1st one that gets it right will have a goldmine. Everyone complains about the wind…especially 6’3” guys like me.
    In the meantime as a temporary solution that actually does help quite a bit…especially in all our N Texas wind….I bought a set of Black Dog Cycleworks pegs that drop the pegs down a 1/2 inch and ride with the saddle in the low position. Now the jet streams mostly blow over my shoulders and just graze the top of my helmet. I’d rather have the saddle in the higher position because I’m tall…but this was a decent ergonomic compromise until someone solves the problem with a better windscreen.
    Other than that 100% agree with your assessment on the bike. It’s a killer riding bike with a few idiosyncrasies that need to be addressed to make it damn near perfect….so far.
    Any other Norden owners out there reading this….make your dealer/shop replace the radiator clamp BEFORE you ride off the lot!!

      @Texastoo2  Před 2 lety +2

      Totally agree. As annoying as the leak and fuel smell are, the wind buffeting is 10 times worse. It actually blurs my vision. The wind down here in the Hill Country (West of Austin) this year is the worse I have ever seen.
      Riding the bike is such a pleasure. It put a smile on my face every time. Several times a week me and the wife take an hour ride when she gets home from work. Minus the issues the bike is amazing and so much fun.

  • @marcochavane3124
    @marcochavane3124 Před rokem +2

    Figured out the gas smell.
    There is a cover un front of the fuel cap. There are two vent lines up top. The one on the left goes to the chsrcoal cannister.
    If the left one is kinked, it will prevent proper venting and cause the tank to pressurize and fuel will come out of the overflow and vapors on the right.
    When you moved stuff around it probably fixed the kinked hose.

    One of the first generation Honda Africa TwinsCRF1000L a couple of years ago: corroding spokes, sticking switches, bike not starting after a few days of heavy rain, leaking fork seal at 25.000km and worst at 30.000km valve clearance so far off that the mechanic called Honda to confirm the values in the manual.
    KTM 790 Adv R over 50.000km: condensation in the display and a leaking fork seal at 30.000km. 901: same issue with the same hose clamp fixed with a long screwdriver within a few minutes. If that bike has the same reliabilty as the 790 before, I will be perfectly happy. I wasn't so much with the Honda before!

    I have been riding since the mid 70's. From my experience it's wise to check bolts and screws on a regular basis. It's part of normal motorcycle maintenance. Especially after riding off-road. Motorcycles vibrate...... things come loose. My Husqvarna 701 Enduro vibrates fasteners loose all the time. What ever the brand...... I would make it a habit to check things over before riding. My two cents...... stay safe.

      Sorry for the late reply. Started a new job this week. One of the items I found on my bike was that the petcocks were not all the way open. It was half open so I don't think it made much difference, Hopefully it will be a quick fix. I got mine in the shop last week appointment on the 26th, They still are not able to get to it yet. Dealers are very busy now. Good luck.

      Hello. My wife loves how comfortable it is as long as we stop every hundred miles for a stretch. She would want that on any bike. When I first got it, it handled extremely well. I have a background of riding sport bikes in the 80s, 90s and early 2000s. I was completely comfortable with the handling from the first time I rode it. However, the shock got very spongy and I could not adjust it out. The dealer says there is no issue and the bike has been stuck in the shop with no resolution in sight for any of my issues. Personally, I would never buy the bike again for that reason. A great bike stuck in the shop is of no use.

    For years I was saying European bikes cars are much cuter than Japanese way more sophisticated and engineered. BMW Mercedes Ducati KTM Husqvarna so on. But they are not made to last though they will last. It's just gonna cost you. Seeing it with BMW adventure bikes they fantastic. But you better be mechanically inclined or have money to burn after 3 years. Those mostly money pits once u fix something else will come up. Can you commute with Lamborghini yes absolutely it will cost you on the long run or just buy a Toyota 4 runner not so cool 😎

    • @Texastoo2
      @Texastoo2  Před 2 lety

      At first, we both got uncomfortable pretty quickly. I just asked her for her true thoughts: She said it is very comfortable now but likes to get off every hour to stretch. We went 300 miles yesterday and drove the last two hour straight. She said the last 30 minutes were torture. We are not in the best riding condition yet. I think she would feel that way even on a Goldwing. Hope that helps.

    • @Texastoo2
      @Texastoo2  Před 2 lety +1

      I got more clarification from the wife last night. She said the bike is completely comfortable the way we have it setup. Since we were in high winds and some rain on that trip, she was hanging on by squeezing her legs tighter on the bike and her legs started cramping. Plus we hiked the hardest trails when we got to Garner State park here in Texas so her legs were probably already tired.
