Julian Nott - Wallace & Gromit - A Grand Day Out OST

  • I have put together a comprehensive soundtrack suite of all of Julian Nott's music composed for and heard in Wallace & Gromit: A Grand Day Out. A huge shout out to @GiggleCrunch for putting the music up on CZcams. I had to take the music he gathered and put it in Audacity where I sped or slowed each cue up or down by 4% and then either slowed the tempo down or sped it up by 1%. This was to undo any lowering or raising of the pitch caused by the speed differences in PAL to NTSC/ATSC telecine conversion or vice versa. If you have Audacity, this is very easy to do. And now, enjoy Julian Nott's complete score for A Grand Day Out.

    'Everybody knows the moon's made of cheese' and 'The Rocket' has got to be one of the most eerie and foreboding pieces of music ever made. The mystery and dread created by just a few simple notes is astounding.

      The United Kingdom BBC VHS was the same for the Warner Home Video VHS/DVD as well as the 20th Century Fox Home Entertainment through CBS/Fox Video VHS. The CBS/Fox Video DVD version is where the NTSC lower pitch came in and became the standard for all future American _Wallace & Gromit_ short releases save _A Matter of Loaf and Death._

    Superb piece of work! Just one thing missing, between Blastoff and Moon Picnic: As the moon comes into view through the rocket window on approach, there is a very quiet string chord, all on it's own (with the air of mystery to it, etc.). Otherwise, this seriously is fantastic! Julian Nott's work on Wallace & Gromit is just super!

    • @PeachLover94
      @PeachLover94  Před 7 lety +5

      That chord, I believe, was heard in the tracks _Everybody Knows The Moon's Made Of Cheese_ and _The Rocket_. It was just a small chord that neither GiggleCrunch, whom I've cited for gathering the music tracks from, nor Julian Nott himself put on the official _Wallace & Gromit_ music releases.

    • @CBeaumontHIGTFY
      @CBeaumontHIGTFY Před 7 lety +6

      Very understandable not to include it - with it being on it's own, quiet and so forth. My ear as a musician + that I play everything from memory - picks more or less anything up that has a pitch, and it can almost be annoying sometimes - I instantly noticed it was "missing" here! Doesn't matter though, as said - it's on it's own - and you are right, a similar counterpart is found in 'Everybody Knows The Moon's Made of Cheese'.
      Superb work once again!

      So long as they credit Julian Nott for the original music, I'm fine with them using it. Tying two of my favorite British cultural institutions together musically is a great dream to have come true.
      It is only further proof that _Thomas the Tank Engine & Friends_ and _Wallace & Gromit_ are top British cultural institutions up there with literary icons such as James Bond, Sherlock Holmes, Peter Pan; musical groups like the Beatles and Rolling Stones; as well as television and movie hallmarks like Monty Python, _Thunderbirds_ and _Doctor Who_ if you can believe it...
