An unboxing, review, and full setup of the Mealworm Growing Pod. My first impressions were very positive, I'll continue to post updates with details on my feeding regimen, production rates, etc. I'll include things like what I'm feeding them, how often, and things that may not be working so well.

The Egyptians guide to raising bugs
I dokt understand, is this a guide you know if, is it an example, throw me some more info when you get a chance.
@@MidwestMealworms The Egyptians were obsessed with the sacred Scarab Beetle. They even mummified them. Thanks for all of your videos! I’m 5mo in with mealies, superworms, both beetles, and crickets. Planning on selling locally because the pet stores suck unless you catch them on the truck day.
I think this product is great! The concept of being able to keep the beetles/pupae in the same container and simply switch that one tray to another container to allow them to lay eggs in numerous empty trays is neat. A similar beetle tray that would fit other containers would be great, too. (like small plastic storage boxes, etc.)
yes! I'm testing out an idea in the farm right now regarding beetle trays.....hmmm......
Think you m'y frend

Would you recommend this system for home use? I have 11 chickens that love mealworms
For more than one chicken, no. You will need more mealworms than this system will provide. Roughly speaking, one large tray for every chicken you have.
What is a good depth for mealworm trays?
3 inches has been optimal for me.
Where did you get the wheat bran?
A local feed store orders it for me. Sometimes they don't carry it in stock, you may need to ask them to get you a bag.
About how much you pay for the Bran? Not sure if MFA would get it special?
So after you place say 200 beetles in a container at what point do you remove them before the eggs start to hatch?
Eggs will start hatching within a week of being laid in optimal conditions.
@@MidwestMealworms Thank you for getting back to me. One more question. How long should you leave beetles in a container before moving them into another one?
@@joegirardi-thegirardihomes9369 depends on your time and space. Every week is what I do, some do every 2 weeks, some do more frequently.
Where do you buy your 50 pound bag of wheat bran?
A local feed store. Not all of the carry it, but they can sometimes order it in if you ask.
About how many square inches, at 3” deep, will it take to support 1k worms? The pod looks small for 1k worms plus more from the beetles…
It's definitely big enough for 1000 larger mealworms, it's been a while since I made this video but I think 2000 would fit.
Where can I buy the blue trays that you use, thank you
Beekenkamp from the Netherlands or Tricycle.eco in Canada.
Thank you
Hey, is there a trade name, of what those trays are called?@@MidwestMealworms
@@WD-us5zk they are Beekenkamp trays from the Netherlands, number 6206.
I have 3 geckos would this system work?
Yes. If you have any sterilite or Rubbermaid containers those would work as well.
Where do you get that shirt?
I hired a graphic designer to make the mealworm image, and then I designed the entire shirt in Printify. It's on my website now: midwestmealworms.com/products/mealworms-make-me-happy-classic-tee
@@MidwestMealworms No fat guy sizes though. I'm bigger than your average bubba, lol
@@rynoshnglkmle email me, I'll see what I can put together. Justin@midwestmealworms.com
This system is nice and slick but the bins seem of inadequate depth to hold enough substrate for the beetles or mealworms. Maybe for a VERY small farm but just not practical overall.
They are plenty deep enough, any more height and it would be wasted space. The output from this is meant to be for small use, like a reptile owner. It's great for what it's designed to do.
I’m first ❤️️
Always a good feeling :)
Where do I get this i n the U.S.?
Can they be shipped to north east in winter?
@@dianemyers250 Yes! That shouldn't be an issue :)
Use the link in the description, it will take you right to their website - and, I then would receive a small commission if you guy, so thank you!!
I’ll wait till you sell them here
@@dianemyers250 we do currently sell in the US. We also offer free shipping on our growing pod too in the US 😊
The pods look great but just went to the web page where they sale them. Too expensive for me I’ll stick with my dollar store containers 😅I just have 1 dragon to feed and wanted to farm some bc it’s becoming winter and it’s hard to find mealworms during winter season bc mealworms r used for bc fishing during the spring season so they start ordering them and I can go to grocery store to get live mealworms very convenient
Thank you for checking them out. For your scenario, I agree, dollar store containers work well :)
hallo i need some case how much
I'm sorry, I don't understand.
booy me some trays 1000 how mutch
I don't understand your question.
A whole lot of plastic for such a simple task,
How many of these will end up in land fill after 12 months 🤔
No idea, what are some good alternatives?
Storage totes work well, can then be used for storage if you stop mealworms.
