Oh I see you're reacting to a masterpiece. This song is an art in itself, from the lyrics to the portrayal of emotions everything is on point! Imo it's about a broken and toxic relationship where one wants to stay while the other half wants to end this. It means their relation is as weak as a house made of cards that it will fall down soon and very easily.

The contrast between their voices is so beautiful and I feel like they are the most unique vocal line of the whole kpop industry. Jin with the silver voice, V with the most calming and deep voice(and ofc the range),jimin with the most unique high pitched tone and jk with the best voice of korea(acc to bts themselves). It just makes sense that they are worldwide 💜

The saying 'built on a House of Cards' refers to built on not stable foundation, easy to collapse. Which is why the lyrics say not to be in a hurry. Take ones time. BTS took painstaking hrs upon hrs (12-15) especially in the beginning as rookies to practice to make sure to perfect their craft. Dancing for hrs til they were all in sync, as well as their harmonies, as well as practicing so much more. If one believes in their dreams one need to beleive in themselves and be dedicated to work that much harder towards ones dream.Following ones dreams means one needs to be dedicated throughout the process to keep being determined in dedication to try hard. The lyrics also refer to the BU meaning that if one comes from a more stable supportive background (stable foundation) makes it that much easier in ones life. Also the part where there were no lyrics when there was a break and jk sang, is called scat singing which is a jazz term, where ones just scats word sounds, along with the music. Whatever the music sounds like.

@dxwxt - yes! Scat singing started in the late 1949's early 1950's during what was called the 'be bop' era of jazz. Ella Fitzgerald was one of the first to be known for scat singing during her jazz songs. But there were many more. I highly recommend you do research on this era and listen to this Be Bop era of jazz. Some of the best older most innovative jazz musicians came out of this era, which I beleive was the coolest hippest of jazz. Some of the now legendary in-house producers of BigHit especially Pdogg studied and is quite knowledgable in different eras of all kinds of music, be it classical, jazz, pop, all different international sounds along with different instruments used all over the world. PDogg has even been given many honors and highly looked up to and revered in the entertainment community in Korea. If you notice, you'll see his name usually on top of the list for most BTS songs as well as when doing their solos or mixtapes or now albums. Jimin I has been working closely with him when recording his song Friends, for Di-Sease, it was PDogg who requested Jimin to write the melody for the bridge in Disease. Which is now best part of that song. But now Jimin even mentioned during Festa celebration dinner that he's even going over Pdogg's house while working on songs for his album.

Meaning of the song from the way I see it is that its about a relationship that is being compared to a house of cards, dangerous and collapses repeatedly and although they build it back up, at any given moment if falls down because there's tension in the relationship. However there is a sensual love aspect that lingers in the relationship that keep them together and even tho the girl knows they won't last cause nothing is stable between them. The boy still wants to try keep their house of cards standing. 💜
House of Cards is a song inserted in the BU during the Prologue credits which sadly most reactors skip over as they do not perceive music during credits as important. However, this is Big Hit and literally almost everything they do seems to have meaning.
If you think of what you know about the storyline at the point V has jumped from the tower (the final scene of Prologue) then think about the lyrics here, it is easy to see how similar the words of Butterfly (the feature song of Prologue) are to the words of House of Cards. Each can be interpreted as thoughts and emotions of Jin as much as being standalone songs.
Big Hit then in the next mv (Run) has Jin build a house of cards only to have V who had just jumped into the sea knock it down as Jin is admiring his accomplishment. Look at the face on Jin. He is not mad. Rather the moment has sapped him of direction. He looks lost. Later in Run when Jungkook fights Suga trying to help him (though we don't know the reason for the fight at this point), Suga shatters a mirror. Again we see a house of cards collapse.
To me, despite BU tour guides who skip House of Cards, BTS and Big Hit deliberately inserted it in Prologue for investigation and interpretation within BU context. I am happy you got to House of Cards on your own. You are true ARMY. Hopefully you review how Big Hit may well be using certain lyrics in House of Cards as part of expanding the story during the transition from Prologue to Run.

This song and the way it’s arranged is incredible. JK scat singing is a nice little touch, I wish he’d do more. I’m not sure if this live performance was the one where Jimin wasn’t well and he asked Jungkook to take over from him if he couldn’t sing. In the end he got through it. Jin can also sing very high and very low. He hits three incredible high notes in Crystal Snow and low notes in Dionysus. They’re a versatile bunch. If you look at their sweaty hair I think they had been dancing hard just before this and had to calm down to give this their all. The Truth Untold is another of their virtuoso performances and then Dimple is a lighter vocal line one.
