His name is pronounced Jang Yee-Shing, birth name Jiashuai is Jee-ow-shway. "Not apart of the group currently" wrong. This was years ago. Summer 2020 is when political issues resolved, after it was just the pandemic keeping him out. After that guide we got him in Don't Fight The Feeling and that whole album. He has never left the group, only SM. But he is a member of exo and has said himself he still is

Lay recently just left SM but he made it to where he can still do comebacks with Exo he just won’t be apart of SM. After checking out Promise you should check out “Exo is family” part 1 and “Exo-L’s are family” part 2 by exoxouniverse, it really puts into perspective what they went through and what the song truly means to us fans.

Being an ExoL since before Exo's debut in 2011...even before the fandom was given that name...I feel privileged being with them for these 10 years, the good, bad and ugly times along their growth....same with Bts in 2013.....too bad newbies can't feel that long time dedication the fans and Exo members have given to each other...like with all the groups I have loved since discovering Kpop in 2006 with Rain and BigBang....the immense talent, hard work and dedication all these different artists have shown me....damn, made me fall in the rabbit hole way back then...and it's been a pleasure for me and like minded fans from way back too, worldwide...regardless of America catching up until recently....we Kpop lovers were in a beautiful world, free from keeping up with the American music scene, as if I was keeping Kpop all to myself, along with YT friends...and I'm a music lover, a born and bred American, and back then couldn't care less about the Western scene...we were hyped and had a new world to dive into.
So Exo became one of my ults, and it's been a great journey. So thank you guys for giving Exo a chance. EXO is EXO. They are not like the other groups. They are their own brand, and I love them as much as ALL the talent Kpop has to offer.

Lay left SM this year when his contract expired but he reassured everyone he is still an Exo member. Plus it's understandable why, he is super busy in China and he has his own entertainment company (Chromosomes entertainment) to run and handle. EXO is always 9, now we are waiting for the rest of the Exo members and their decisions whether to stay or leave sm entertainment as well.
Lay going solo in China was the best thing for him. His talents are allowed to be presented and through his hard work he became a super star. While in SoKor he was pushed to the back and his talent suppressed while the Korean members were promoted and given titles that they necessarily didn't deserve. SM is known to racist and abuse their chinese members. All the Chinese members made the best decision when they left SM & SoKor.

Please continue reacting to Exo, their discography is vast, their b-sides, winter songs all are top class..please check them out. Their variety shows are also fun, Eg: Exo Arcade Season 1-2 (a game show where they compete with each other,its so fun) then there is Exo Ladder, a travel show with Season 1 having Exo CBX, season 2 with 8 members (must watch) then season 3 which came out this year with 5 members: Suho,Xiumin,Kyungsoo,Jongin and Sehun. Its a good way to see their dynamics with each other and its a great show. Thank you once again for showing love to our boys. 🙏🥰
EXO has a team to work on songs as well because SM Ent. doesn't allow them to do it by themselves. This is how SM works. So, the way your song can be in a group album or your solo is that you need to sell it hard for receiving permission, and if SM thinks your songs are good enough, they'll let them in. So that is why EXO-Ls are excited by songs that are written by members a lot because it's not easy for them to receive permission. Even Lay needs to send his songs back to SM Ent. too but since he's not in SM anymore, he doesn't need to do so. But, now, EXO is a 10-year-old group, so SM is kinda let them do more.

Unfortunately, the political climate between Korea and China was only a little better for a short time. However, since this guide was made in 2020, China's Idol culture has become even more restrictive after the election of their new president. Plus, Lay left SM Entertainment last year, but he has made it clear that he hasn't left EXO. Although there are still several obstacles in his way to being able to work with EXO. Therefore, it still probably will be some time, if ever, before we see Lay working in person with the rest of EXO.
We finally got to see Lay in an EXO project last year -- the first time since 2016 -- with EXO's "Don't Fight The Feeling" MV, but he really didn't get to work with EXO because of the pandemic, etc. Everything he did for that MV was done remotely and independently and inserted into the song and MV.
You should check out his lyric video for his song "Jiu," a song on his most recent album, East, which was released after he announced his departure from SM. This song is evidence that he has not left EXO and that he still considers himself part of the group, as every word of the song is a tribute to EXO. I have also read that on Webo he mentioned how he was working out a deal with SM that could possibly allow him to still continue to do projects with EXO in the future. (I mean it's possible, Taecyeon from 2PM left JYP Entertainment, but he worked out a deal with his new company that has allowed him to continue activities with 2PM. And even more encouraging is the fact that Girls' Generation just had a comeback as a full group even though 3 members left SM 5 years ago.) I mean, SM has been supporting Lay in everything he has been doing so far, including endorsing him when he started his trainee company Chromosome. And I don't think there is any bad blood or uneasy feelings between Lay and SM, so anything is possible.

Yixing is an artist in every sense of the word, we recently got to see him with the other members in the DFTF Special Album ✨ and we hope to see him from now on in what's next for our boys. And speaking of the group, you have to see their song “JIU”, which came out on the day of Exo's 10th anniversary and also the day he announced that he had left SM Entertainment but was still our Unicorn and would always be there for his brothers and the EXO L. 💗 it's a super beautiful song, yes or yes you have to visit it at some point. 💗

Lay is my bias along with Suho, Xiumin and Chen. Check out Lose Control that is his first solo album. It broke 5 Guinness records in China. His autobiography "Standing Firm @ 24" talks about his journey as an idol it's heartbreaking. Yes with EXO he got less attention except in dancing but got few singing lines. I am happy he shines as solo artist. One more, he gets to do things he likes doing unlike with SM coz the comp restricts them a lot of things. The song "Promise" he composed. Chen wrote the Korean lyrics and Chanyeol wrote the rap part. Promise Chinese version is the song he wrote for the Chinese members who left. He composed the song for the group and fans but SM declined the song many times. He said he almost begged on his knees just to get approval. He cried for approval until the manager took time to listen finally they made it to the album. Now in China he won best producer, Producer of the year, best singer-songwriter etc. , the youngest in a roster of authors in China etc. His portfolio is basically the thickest among all EXO members. He is also on top 10 young philanthropists. The Mandopop king Zhang Yixing who doesnt have any sibling but he got 8 Korean brothers. His love for the members is unmatched. He write the song Jiu for the members on their 10th anniversary last April.

Lay in Exo seems like over-shadowed coz SM chose to present the team that way. In Exo we barely see him in MVs, he barely has lines, on live stages the camera is rarely on him.. the amount of work he does most kpop idol not even his own group can't even relate too. N honestly he is above n beyond in dancing skill than Kai right now. Check out his concert stages of his songs on his CZcams channel. And yes u r right in that observation Lay can b the coldest n most distant personality most of the times but sometimes he is the most childlike n chirping.

The Kpop work ethic is not something I like to praise because too many times it becomes abusive. There are stories of idols working for 12 hours with no meal breaks, idols training all day and into the next morning only to sleep for a few hours and be back to training at 6am. Baekhyun mentioned in a video that at one point he was only sleeping for 2 hours a night and wouldn't say he was tired. He said he wished he had said he was tired and someone would tell him that it was OK. There are many stories of people fainting because they are working all the time and going on unhealthy diets. There is no work/life balance in kpop. Working hard is a good thing, but people also shouldn't be afraid to rest when they need to. I hope Lay has learned to rest when he is tired.

Even though China and South Korea are somewhat okay now..It will still be hard for Lay to give more time in Kpop compared to Chinese artists that are active in Kpop industry because like what in caesar oh's vid said, he is really huge in China. Other chinese artists in kpop group does not have a solo career in China at all and only focuses in Kpop.
In my opinion, if Lay will give more time in Kpop, i think people in China will think that he betrayed them especially those people who have strong political views and that's what Lay is avoiding to hapoen. But like every EXOLs' wish.. i wish that Lay will be in EXO's future albums and concerts.
