@@wollinger I was gonna try fseconomy, but everything about it is horribly outdated and there's a 3 day waiting line on their forums because they are manually adding every single person to their database... So I went with the 7 day trial instead.
Well he did correctly call it an instrument landing system but he claimed it works off a laser beam which is wrong, it works off a radio signal (for readers who dont know what the OP is talking about). There is a navigation radio in planes sort of like the radio in your car and you tune it to navigational transmitters on the ground that you need like an ILS. The number he said was missing in the ILS box would be a frequency that you tune your nav radio to, like 120.5, then the autopilot (or the pilot) can use instruments in the plane to follow that radio signal down to the runway even if you're in the clouds. What I thought was the dumbest part of the flight was when he saw that the plane's center of gravity was so off that the front wheel was off the ground and Instead of fixing the problem he just took off. His virtual airline should have fired him for that lol. Most planes that off balance stale and crash as soon as they takeoff, which is what almost happened to him.

Basically, for the glide slope the ground based system transmits 2 overlapping lobes, one at a slightly higher frequency than the other. The lobes are laid out so one is above the other, with an overlap whose center is right on the proper glide path. The aircraft based system receives both lobes and compares them to each other, if the signal of the higher lobe is of greater intensity than the lower lobe it knows you are above glideslope, and vice versa. I tried this out and i really liked it. However, i'm experiencing an issue with some of the jobs. I take the job, set everything up, start the sim, set the flight and click fly, start tracking on the OnAir app with the cargo loaded and everything and when i land, the mission does not register as completed. I only get a notification that i moved the aircraft from one point to another. Am i doing something wrong? Is there a specific pattern that i need to follow when starting a flight? This does not happen every time. Any help would be much appreciated :)
Do the 7 day trial and then check if FSEconomy is back by then. OnAir is a good way to get familiarized with virtual airlines etc. I also think it has one of the better managers software wise and is easy to follow. It'll get you "learned up" a bit in case you move to a different manager later. Also, if you do the tutorial flight, you get a free C172 for your airline to keep! For $15, you get 3 months and then you can figure out if this Flight Manager thing is really for you or not. OR just keep waiting for FSEconomy to open up, that's what happens with a free service, the servers just can't handle the load and there's no money to fix it.
We’ll take off to the north.... but let’s announce we’re heading to the southerly runway, lol. Just messing w/ you. Anyway, started my “career”. It’s a little non-intuitive but little by little making more sense. Definitely may need to pay up for subscription.
This looks pretty cool, I might give the free trial a shot. One question though, if the system relies on live-synced time, does the service support increasing the sim speed during trips? If so, is there any motivation to not do that? Seems like you'd be at a significant disadvantage for not making liberal use of that system when running missions.
It's a self policed system. If you join the higher two servers (Thunder/Stratus) you will be in "warp stasis" until the normal arrival time if you were to have used time compression.
I would love to have tried OnAir Company, but the app/service is horrendous right now; constant DNS issues that seem to appear every time there's an update (or not), which render the app/service inoperable for days at a time.
Whenever I try to do my keybinds it will save for that session but whenever I close flight simulator it deletes and I don’t know why does anyone know how to fix this
Ms should come out with CAPTAIN MODE.. where the goal is to be a captain. Have a feature that unlocks planes based on experience points you get by flying. More airtime means more experience. Close to perfect landing should have a bonus points. Actually a currency to buy the planes instead of unlocking them would be better. Anyhow.. this seems far fetch. We are thankful for having such a beautiful simulator.. sadly I don't think career mode or Captain mode will ever be implemented. This being a simulator sorta kills that idea because the focus is more towards realistic flying more than company management and stuff. Still maybe in flight simulator 2030. We could have career mode built in.
@tobelplays I have a question, if you dont mind. If I pay for a month and make progression then drop the sub for a month and return is my progression lost?

So. Much. CK3. I don't know what type of videos I'll make, as it'll be awhile before I fully understand how things work. I will for sure do some streams, but hopefully let's plays of interesting people. Perhaps a "let's figure out CK3 stuff"
TobelPlays Thank you for replaying, Tobel! Again, you got me into Kenshi and the Guild 3, as your Kenshi play throughs are basically the most serious ones around. I put like 300 hours into Kenshi and it’s all thanks to you!
So your Opinion on CK 3 will be vital if I purchase it instead of just game pass it. Of course it’s gonna have missing content, but everything I’ve read so far it’s going in the right direction.
Its nice that third party takes up the job of adding a career mode, but in my opinion it should be part of the in game package.
it's a sim not a game, they give all the tool for 3rd party to do what they want so i dont see the problem with it, they provide a good platform.
@@designamk1160 stfu lol
We had run of could free days. It probably was clear when you made this. It's Vancouver Island by the way. Looks like fun.
This looks brilliant. A fantastic overview.
Does this have any form of multiplayer? Can a friend join the company and do flights too?
That would be such a good idea
Yes, you can. You can also start a virtual airline and have owners, managers, pilots, etc. Its a great little system.
@@h3sh926 Thanks for your answer! I love the look of this. Definitely worth looking into.
@@frankperry2482 If you are interested in joining a virtual airline, add me on discord - depoultry#8311. We fly out of Europe and US West coast at the moment. Airline code is LZYJT
pretty neat, thanks for sharing! I wonder what other add on type programs for the game are out there.
Yes, the weather is that nice right now lol
You should do like a let's play or series of your career that is a definite subscription
It basically is a series now: czcams.com/play/PLMk50gTih9ur3B_ufvFC_KCoVsWU-nO0i.html - Same career. Some flights are skipped that are the most basic
As someone who lives in Victoria BC it's funny that you called Vancouver Island Victoria Island, Victoria Island is in the Arctic! The Gulf Islands and San Juan Islands are gorgeous though, great place to fly out of in game.
Fun video though, just stood out to me and had to comment. Will have to check out onair.
I love that region of our countries. Sorry about the island name mix up!
And now i am a subscriber! :)
Great video! Can you do a video about fseconomy or compare that one to this one?
I've used FSEconomy ever sense Microsoft Flight Simulator x ( before even steam edition) I've used it with that, and with steam edition as well as with Xplaine 11, now with FS2020, i am going to check out this VIrtural airline thing too
Curious how you were able to have OnAir set the weight in MFS. I've never had that work for me. I've only been able to get it to set fuel levels. Did you edit that in somehow?
I also would like to know this. It appears as if your plane cargo in the sim synced with OnAir the moment you hit "Start tracking," but this hasn't ever worked for me. I have to enter it manually, which honestly turns me off to this program. Do you have any thoughts?
If this was only a week ago then yes it's that beautiful up here in the summer's.
This is interesting, but I would like to see a video on a free alternative.
Check out FSEconomy. It's free and awesome.
FSEconomy!
Its not letting new users to join as of now...there having technical issues
@@FastRedDragon1984 Yeah, so for now I'm playing Oneair for free for a week to evaluate :)
You could buy a one month subscription just to have some kind of career mode for now, then look at FSEconomy when they got their account management sorted out. (I suspect they will soon. hoping for it before my free play on Onair runs out.)
@@erikwillems6466 Ugh. Still not accepting new members... :-/ I've been trying for a couple weeks now, like tons of people I'm sure. Regardless, I'm doing what you're doing!
26:33 "Hi, I'm the schmuck who landed on Charlie"
Great video and enjoyed seeing how "OnAir Company" works. I live on Vancouver Island, not Victoria Island ;-) so it was great to see some of the scenery in the area.
One question, you mentioned you purchased the airport. I don't have the game just yet, but am curious how that works? Is it an in-game purchase or a third party? Can you link where you purchased it from.
It's sold in the marketplace inside of MSFS. It's one of the official DLC hand crafted airports. Price is $12.99 USD.
Saw someone else mention that - crap! I really was convinced it was Victoria Island. You guys gonna let Vancouver take all the fun? As @mountain said, there is an in-game marketplace that ties into Steam wallet. I'm not super impressed honestly with the airport I bought, but for much larger airports I might be. I think it lets many of the more popular third-party folks drop products out there. I want my super mega high-res pack.
Vancouver Island was where some of the "ALONE" shows were film.. beautiful but not very forgiving.
I took the bonanza as you suggested for first plane but for some reason every single flight i do the planes engine shuts off about 3/4's through the flight. Any idea what I may be doing wrong?
Already love it
Wow one of the best videos I’ve seen . This stops the game getting boring . What system do you have to run this game
If an airport doesn't have an ILS you should still be able to do an rnav approach to and from most airports if you want to go instruments
And that's why you carefully do your weight and balances before any flight irl :p
There's a chance this is adressed without me catching it, my apologies if thats the case. Is is possible to use the sim rate with this online feature? I just dont have the time to do extremely long hauls at "normal" speed, but would still love to play around with a career mode such as this!
Tobel, noticed when u started flight the cargo got loaded into ur plane. Does this not happen anymore? Seems to just load the amount of fuel not cargo or passengers.
its called Vancouver island, Victoria island is in the far north, above the arctic circle.
Is there a way to fix the loading of cargo closer to the CG?
This game actually looks so beautiful :o
I just recorded a second flight at dawn and it is amazing. I'm really looking forward to super high quality texture packs to drop.
@@TobelPlays you play a lot of flight sims? You really seem to know what you're doing! Can you make 5 mins of your next video just pressing all the buttons and seeing if the plane crashes? Lmao
@@EaGilgamesh Haha, I can guarantee if you press certain buttons you're quite likely to wind up inverted and heading towards land. I enjoy flight sims quite a bit and have taken a few ground school classes in the past.
@@TobelPlays I am seriously debating going to school to be a pilot after watching some of these videos, my god would that view be awesome to see every day! If you can throw in a segment of just seeing what happens if you press all the buttons i would love it! (For science of course)
Thanks for this a lot, i used to play fsx and fly in real too, but now mfs makes more fun! I also can understand and follow you well, because my native language is german. Please more content like that!
Uh,...correction, Vancouver Island. Victoria is the capital where the Legislature Buildings of BC goverment is centered. It may be "The ZOO" to some. Yea Abbotsford, CYXX. Also home to the real Guimbal Cabri heli and R66 from Vskylabs. Thats our Canadian registration on their modelled helicopters. You should be hauling in food for the residents of Point Roberts...border cuts them off at this penninsula lol.
Good old FsPassangengersX from FSX, one of the best add-on's ever :)
Yeah! I miss the simulation of crew and having to manage in flight entertainment and food, plus the fact that it penalized you for not following the rules of aviation of for exceding the planes capacities.
I LOVED this one. Didn't it also have sound effects of the crew interacting with the passengers? I need more. MORE IMMERSION.
FS Pax was great, but it wasn't as in-depth as this appears to be. It was great for added immersion though :)
@@Shashman82 I really loved what it did for the big jets. Really gave you the sense you were flying people around
There is a new one.
Check out self loading Cargo.
www.selfloadingcargo.com/
I’ve been wanting to play this. I have friends on this career mod but I cannot trust MSFS2020 to run without crashing so I haven’t gotten into it yet until they release a patch fixing it.
Does anyone els have a problem where you start the game after setup and my joystick stopped working only when air manager is running in the background
Definitely may need to pay up for subscription.
did you play with a sim yoke? i find it very difficult to land with keyboard keys
You just single handedly convinced me to buy MS FS
You can buy gamepass dude it includes MFS2020 is almost free lol
This looks pretty cool, I might give the free trial a shot. One question though, if the system relies on live-synced time, does the service support increasing the sim speed during trips? If so, is there any motivation to not do that? Seems like you'd be at a significant disadvantage for not making liberal use of that system when running missions.
It's a self policed system. If you join the higher two servers (Thunder/Stratus) you will be in "warp stasis" until the normal arrival time if you were to have used time compression.
What kind of hardware are you using for MFS? Yoke? Joystick?
this is seriously cool, I am going to give it a go
I would love to have tried OnAir Company, but the app/service is horrendous right now; constant DNS issues that seem to appear every time there's an update (or not), which render the app/service inoperable for days at a time.
This might explain why i'm not getting a confirmation email for registering, MSFS has really done a number on all of these services.
Whenever I try to do my keybinds it will save for that session but whenever I close flight simulator it deletes and I don’t know why does anyone know how to fix this
I have same problem with sensitivities, keep resetting
There’s a free one called FSeconomy which is really good. You start in a small plane doing passenger on Car go runs and make your way up.
Signups have been closed for weeks :( I've been checking every day...
Good question. I don't know for sure - that's a question best asked on their Discord.
Nice vid, thanks!
any thoughts on why Im getting very low fps when using OnAir? usually Im on about 60fps. getting 28 on average with onAir tracking my flight
That's really weird. It shouldn't be a graphical thing, so perhaps the bottleneck is in memory or CPU? Watch Task Manager to see what's getting used.
@@TobelPlays it is weird! read somwhere that there's an issue with simconnect and msfs. Stutters and major fps drops.. will have to see when the update is released.
sounded fun untill i watched the pricing...
now to make this clear i payed forever to play wow but ... i dunno man
Can you use the airbus for this? Or do you need to fly small aircraft?
Flying with the CG so aft is a big no no IRL...
@@BlueMax717 You can 100% adjust it, just go into your weight and balance tab in MSFS and change it. OnAir actually doesn't even add cargo weight for me, the only thing it syncs is fuel.
Can you use LSA planes in this game? For those of us who can only obtain a sports pilot license due to medical reasons.
Not sure about onair. It makes me fly a prop plane to one of the airports that usually an A320 flies the same route in real life.
Startup procedures, first things first, get all wheels on the ground... :-P
Iv been saying fx2020 needs game play, not just open world flying around. I wish they had a career mode built in game. This should have been part of the game.
Agree agree. But I think these programs fill the niche pretty well. It'd be a pretty large investment if they tried, they've probably just accepted that there are a bunch of plugins that fit the bill.
@@TobelPlays yeah they do but theyre a big enough company they could have made it so much better. not saying its bad but you know
i knew this place looked familiar...AirforceProud flew here in one of his blogs...i was wondering why it looked so damn familiar considering ive never been there lol
Dude its not called "Victoria Island" but props for flying my area.
Maple Isles!
Hmmm, seems like a project that can be done in C#. Would be fun to make something like this to sharpen my programming skills.
