More complete logical insanity from season 4! I do have to say; kids as we were, Irwin's lazy scripting did by now tank the show. Have to say as well, and I thought this at 14, Basehart does seem bored with all the shenanigans by now...

Watch John Crawford as Alpha carefully. He redubbed the entire episode because Irwin Allen was convinced that his original, recoded voice was too passive. Crawford was not amused.

It's obvious by this point Basehart was in it for the paycheck

It kills me that an integral part of the sub is so easy to access and just the pull of lever causes the sub to go all over the place 😂

PS. The same storyline was also done in Star Trek Next Generation where Data was kidnapped to be part of a museum display.

In defence of this beloved programme let me just explain that back in 1967 the thing that kids were mad for was Batman, so they did tend to dumb down other shows also Star Trek with their Hippies etc. David did try his best with Irwin but there you go.😉

Loved it as a kid, love it now as cheesy nostalgia. Those air ducts are massive. The seaview must be as big as a battleship!

  • @derekmurray1462

How the actors maintained their composure I do not know, Richard basehart was a serious actor for gods sakes 😂

The basic premise of all good Sci-Fi is grounded in two words; ‘what if…’ This was the mindset of Irwin Allen. VTTBOTS, Time Tunnel, JTTCOTE and others that this was cemented in. Look at Gene Roddenberry’s STAR TREK and all the sitch the Enterprise got into! 😊

  • @jackpayne5101

Don't worry Admiral the Captain will save you some how 😉

  • @grahamcombs4752

Irwin Allen -- he was always juggling several shows at once and the story lines just got wilder and more silly... Still, a great kid show. Loved the Seaview and the Flying Sub.

Ya know, the Seaview is a tough gal!

Always loved this from being a kid running home from school to watch it.

Always loved this show as a kid. Love it still an older man. 🙂👍🇺🇸

I like how they keep reminding me I’m watching Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea. Sometimes I forget.

  • @dale3852

We loved this over here 🇬🇧

  • @EricaHogan-in2no

I couldn't help but laugh when they were all frozen to the spot but their 👀 eyes were watching. Good episode though. 👏. Didn't think much of the alien uniforms though.

Not only did this episode use left over prop and set pieces from the Time Tunnel, they used the same costume and make up (silver painted faces) as well.

  • @64yanks

    That Seaview side-eye on display

  • @bloodgrss

    Love the sunglasses...
