This is beautifully produced- I would go as far as to say it's a cinematic masterpiece. This is inspiring. This is SO nostalgic- I've played Minecraft since I was 3, and it was my first console (PS3) game- and it truly invokes your struggles and your final feeling of accomplishment once you were in that world. This definitely gives me hope with trying to run Minecraft on my early 2009 20 inch iMac
I had the same problem with my G3 dead cd drive. I solved the problem by removing it, seeing how hard the mechanism was to even understand, smashing it on a surface, mounting it back in and seeing it work beautifully. It’s been 2 years and it’s still working

I do remember using these imac computers in elementary school I somewhat miss those old computers
Congratulations! It is easier to achieve on a faster PowerPC mac (I’ve achieved this on the iBook G4) but with the specifications of the iMac G3 in the video, it’s quite an achievement to get it running. (A 350 MHz G3 compared to a 1.42GHz G4 is quite a difference)
I wonder how MacOSX tiger runs for normal use on the iMac G3 (performance, etc. updated web browsers built specially for PowerPC macs)
Something interesting to keep open while doing these videos is showing RAM usage (we can assume cpu usage is at 100% the entire time when things are loading)

@@zacharystaines Thank you! Yea! If thinking of buying another PowerPC mac, go with the G5! The performance difference is quite a lot compared to the G3! (But it is more of an accomplishment to get things running on the G3 iMac because of its hardware limitations. The G5 PowerMac has a much faster processor in comparison)
Its a dog. I had one of these. 400mhz g3, 1gb ram, 500gb hdd. The limiting factor was the rage 8mb graphics more than anything

You might be able to get a more modern version of linux running on it which will then allow you to run x86 games with wine or dosbox. But still great video!
wine only works on x86 cpu's last i checked. dosbox would work though, i think there's already a build of dosbox for osx 10.4
I'm getting flashbacks to the year 2000. I was about 13 years old with the exact same iMac that you have now barely able to play Quake 3 Arena or Diablo 2. And yet here you are running Minecraft on the same machine, a game from 2011. Wild stuff!
I don't have old iMac or 2007 PC. But it feels so satisfying after seeing someone finally can revive old device and installed video games on it. Wish i have much money and spirit or patient to build my own PC or just revived my old computer.

Finally, i remember the deviation I felt when I tried to upgrade my GPU drivers on my old laptop. Only to have it fail and revert to stock, couldn't fix it and Minecraft that I had played everyday up until then could no longer launch.

Bro dedicated his whole life to making Minecraft run on the oldest Mac... It very much reminds me of how I did everything possible to run Minecraft java edition at 5 fps on my Chromebook 😢 ❤

What surprises me more than anything is that people are still playing Minecraft and are still hype about it. Absolutely blows my mind as the last version I played was the Xbox 360 version when it was all the rage. But that was a decade ago. This is just absolutely unbelievable that Minecraft is still a thing.

Hey - great video! Did notice in a couple shots of the inside that the barrel battery that keeps the time and date is still installed. That battery is over 20 years old and it’s very common to see them leak VERY BADLY and permanently ruin the iMac - I’d suggest that you remove it. It doesn’t need to be replaced for it to work.

I see a CZcamsr did minecraft java latest version on windows xp with weird results. Seeing this even it's just classicube it's neat. It made me remember playing multiplayer on a custom made built in survival server, it's the weirdest experience i ever had. Open source stuff is awesome.

Yeah keeping away from the top of the iMac is most definitely a good idea. Most of what's in there are Components for the CRT, not knowing what you're doing and one wrong move would send you to an early grave. CRTs are kinda dangerous to work on.

I recently did this on my windows xp and yes what you did was way more complicated but it took me like 2 days to get it to windows 10 and I was running 1.19.4 at 3 fps. I feel you pain lol

also did this on xp, i had to patch SSL certificates to get multimc to work properly but after that, i got 1.8.9 running at 40 - 120 fps

I started playing Minecraft when I was like 10 with the demo back in the day me and my friend would play together but the demo only had like 15 or 20 mins of play time and then it would reset the game I miss the old og tutorial maps
