Happy to see you two happy together. My wife and I, married 60 years next April, worked together in a small business most of our married life. Would not change a single day, even the ones we did not always agree with each other on. We are still individuals but one unit. Wish you guys a long and happy time together.

Grew up using a wire hanger with about six inch long thin, V shaped hook to catch them by their leg and foot. Works very well.

Sounds like raising the turkeys might not be as good as the chickens so I guess the turkeys will go by the wayside. Just wanted to mention that I got my delivery of the Hat and T Shirt I ordered. Hi again, have you run your magnet over the grass around the concrete pad ... just in case there are any nails etc for the cattle to tread on.
If there is any nails they would be around the pad that we have electric wire around.
And no I haven't used the magnet yet. But we will when we clen it up.

Rebecca my family is the Bush family from Terre Haute. The football Field is Bush Field and Marthann Bush had the Rockettes. It is a small world. I have family in Paris also.
Seems like raising chickens gets the best return on feed, time, losses and source of fertilizer for next year's garden bedding soil. It's an all-around win-win farming situation.
I built a plucker similar to yours several years ago. I put wheels and a handlebar on it so I can move it like a handtruck. Makes it easier to move it around. That and I keep a cut bucket over the motor while processing.
I found that if you add corn oil to the permethrin it last longer and they're not as afraid of it

For things like grass piles, feathers, and other light things a snow shovel is great. Even though I live in Texas but I have a snow shovel. I actually shoveled snow with it one time and have had it for twenty years. I use it for cleaning leaves and other flower bed trash.

Hi guys, I love your channel. I did my first batch of meat birds this year and meat birds are a lot of work. One thing I must ask; Do you cut the heads right off? I hope so!!! Many homesteaders just cut the neck to "bleed out." That is the Jewish way (halal) to torchure an animal. They still bleed out with the head off and it is instant death no suffering. Many years ago we used to lop the head off with an axe and the bird would run around with its head off. Nerves. It always amazed me that legs would work with the head off. But PLEASE teach people to do it the right way. No suffering of the animal. Love your content.
Roll that fence up and tuck each end in a 5 gal bucket and tie them together.

Someone else on a You tube channel told me that to raise meat Chickens from babies until processing cost him right at ten dollars to raise, which ain't cheap, but he knows what they were raised on!
Empty chicken tractor makes me sad. But next spring it will be full again!

Just seen your video using landscape fabric. Thought you might be interested to know I developed the fabric when I worked in UK for Amoco fabrics many years ago. It can be cut without fraying if you use like a heated hacksaw blade. The product was called MYPEX. REALLY LIKE YOUR VIDEOS

I have great memories of the Coca-Cola plant in Terre Haute. They had a window set up so the outside public could watch the process. I’m going back to the early 60s.

I raise chickens for over 40 years they can grow very well we sell them at around 2.7 kg but they can reach 4 kg.

We raised backyard chickens (Cornish cross) they averaged 18 lbs each. Three of out turkeys were over 45 lbs. BEST meat we ever had. (Idaho)

We did 50 chickens today, our biggest was 10.4 lbs. They were all between 6 and 10 lbs.
I like baked Chicken a lot better than Turkey. Looks like a successful process of producing a supply of meat for the winter. The turkeys will make excellent base for turkey soup. Bad thing about living in the country is that you never get a day off, there is always something to address on your days off. Good thing about living in the country is that the peace and quiet is the best way to enjoy life. 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻Amen!!!
In the end, those turkey bones will make some awesome broth. 👍❤️

In the videos I've seen the turkeys were loose. Do you think maybe they would gain better in a chicken tractor ? You have a beautiful place.

Wanted to suggest being careful with them a s they are getting older, even though castrated, aggressiveness can still be a problem, because of their strength. Same issue with a ~200lb hog or more.
Can you talk more about your orchard? I’m getting into Apple trees. And berries. Your types of trees, cross pollinating, pruning for spring. Good stuff

Palm turkeys are the smallest or if not one of the smallest turkeys.

Next time I’d give the broad breasted whites a try for meat turkeys. They are fantastic! They are like the Cornish of turkeys lol beautiful job on the chickens!

Hi Evan & Rebekah from New Zealand. That's some massive meat birds. How much would the turkeys have cost if you'd purchased them as chicks?
I think turkey chick's were around $12 a piece.

They had the name on the bottom of the coke bottle on each city where they were filled and bottled I lived in Galesburg IL we had a Coke plant Rock Island IL they probably had them all over the country I know a lot of people collect them
The Coca-Cola bottle was designed in Terre Haute, but I'm not certain it was ever manufactured there.
Nice birds. Our turkeys on the farm were the typical black or a breed called "Bronze". Those we're a reddish brown and white. In a summer's time they were all 16 to 25 lbs. They free ranged and we fed ground feed as well. As far as I recollect, they were what are called heritage breeds today. One Thanksgiving we butchered a 3 yr old tom. He was 45 lbs dressed. Mom had to split him in half and do two roasters because he was too big for our roasting pan. He sure was tasty though!

I have watched Rebecca clean the water containers for the cows drinking water and I was wondering if you somehow installed an aerator from a large fish tank it maybe would keep the algae from growing in it. It would be like the pond aerators that you use to keep the pond clear. Would save having to cleaning whenever you have to move it? Mind you I really have no idea if it would even work.

I had a 56 lb turkey last year dressed at 43 lb. Lol
That is huge. Our turkeys last year dress around 15-18 pounds. I can't imagine 43 pounds.

In my mind I can see a fox burrowing into your compost pile looking for the 'birds attacked to those feathers'. When the fox only finds feathers, 'What the heck kind of cruel trick is this?'
I am wondering how many weeks? They can put on an amazing amount of weight in just one week. We used to try to butcher at 7 weeks and ended up with 6-7 lb dressed birds. At 7 wks, we could see just a little bit of loss in tenderness, so that was our limit on growing time.

Yeah, like wth, I know he only keeps them like two months too. I don’t know how that’s possible. Wondering what the taste is like for those chickens, maybe cheaper, but it probably doesn’t taste any much different than what you get at the store.

Yes these meat broilers poultry grows big in 4 weeks n must harvest by 35 days or they die of heart attacks ..
I said to myself, if he drops the chicken plucker, he's gonna regret not listening to his wife!
