Unless the producers edited the scenes when Jang Uk made his vow to become her student, asked her to release him as her student, pledged his undying love and proposed marriage and in the last moment of his first life he calls her “Mudeok” - he seemed to realized that the woman he pursued as his Master, his confidant and love would have existed had she not become trapped in Mudeok’s body. However, it became obvious in Season Two the fans were not ready for a layered story line or character arc.
