      @Doug 1885: Video overwhelmingly shows the public as the antagonistic party to encounters with local law enforcement. For every instance like this or the Baltimore officer who was planting drugs, there's dozens more videos of the public being wholly unable to handle a speeding ticket.

    If every LEO chief were as open and honest with the public as this gentleman, Police would not be as poorly perceived by the public; Police officers would be less likely to abuse their power; Police supervisors and prosecutors would be less likely to defend corrupt cops. Kudos.

      handicapitation No, I do not see it as the culture but, unfortunately I think that is a valid question. I believe that, in whatever way they can, the GSP will be looking into past results. I see it as an inevitable result of online testing. It is rife with the potential to cheat and it has become so prevalent in many aspects of education systems.

      Wow they cheated the RADAR school test. I was a police officer and took our RADAR course (40 hour course, 5 days of 8 hour days). It was freaking easy cause you had 5 days of study on one subject 8 hours a day.

      I'm sure FHP Florida Highway Patrol does that. They refuse to use professional standards, IA/internal affairs. 🚔. The FHP, due to numerous complaints set up new 360 degree DV-audio 📹 systems. I'd add that Troop D, Orlando refused to assist Pulse Orlando 🏳️‍🌈 until they knew they'd get paid over time, paid for fuel.

      6 months OJT, 4 month academy depending on state, 6 month FTO. 16 months to be a officer. 3500 to 5000 hours. Sorry way longer than the 1500 to be a barber.

    Some of this doesn't add up. A "civilian" was able to pass a test that required 7 months of class, who by definition as a civilian couldn't take the class, yet the two studs of the class failed? And the ENTIRE class cheated?

    When I went to Radar school which was 40 hours. You had no online exam. Every test was in a classroom on paper with the instructors constantly looking at every student’s performance . In Radar school you learned the use of Radar the law and courtroom testimony. This is a total embarrassment for the Georgia Patrol.

      I want to talk with him because I had a trooper lie and said he gave me a ticket but he didn't I found out through my insurance that he gave me a ticket when he said know body was at fault I was hit by someone else.

    For me the most worrying aspect of this is that out of an original class of 33 cadets, 30 were willingly prepared to cheat. The issue is not that the online method of examination enabled them to do so, but that dishonesty was already inherent within virtually all of them. For law enforcement in general this should be an extremely concerning indicator.

    I have never ever seen any online test taken at any level of government service that wasn't 100% Googled or otherwise cheated on. EVER, the atitude is if the information is of such a low priority that they don't want a salaried government employee to give the training or the test the material being taught isn't a high priority.
    OMG it was a take home online exam the lowest of the low bar for testing! This is like the old school tests with the answers printed in the back of the book but bont look ROFL!

      The larger issue is as a police officer you have to be able to do the correct thing even when you are not being watched. They should have been fired. This on the post makes extremely difficult to get hired elsewhere.

A simple correction that doesn't change the entire design of the course. The only thing changed is the testing phase, which is of minimal impact to the current program design.

Moving forward, YOU sir are NOT responsible for another individuals actions. You cannot control someone's actions and you certainly have proven what YOU stand for. YOUR control strictly involves what the outcome of their actions would be and to that, you Sir have handled this brilliantly, maintaining the core values the GA. State Troopers stand for, while at the same time keeping public interest as the main priority! Well done Sir. To cheat in earning a law enforcement badge, I cannot imagine how much any one of those troopers WOULD HAVE cheated the citizens, and they absolutely would have, had they NOT been caught. An entire class of dishonest trainees who lacked the main core value of character & integrity. Complete disappointment.

    A proper investigation would also include determining WHERE ELSE cheating has occurred and taking appropriate action. A scandal this large with MULTIPLE methods of cheating suggests SYSTEMIC FAILURES of leadership, and a much larger problem than merely one class of “bad apples.”

      They already had the job. This test was to get certified in only one area of their job duties. This isn't sad. It's maddening! This is a prime example of the failure of law enforcement agencies to properly screen potential hires for morals, integrity, and psychological well being.       @@cpr1214 Actually they were pretty nice. I was traveling on my motorcycle and witnessed an older gentleman run off the road and turn over in his pickup. I stopped, he was out/drunk. LSP stopped when I flagged them down. They were friendly, helped me make the guy comfortable. I chuckled when I saw LSP on his lapel, I thought it was LSD, LOL, - hey I was young military kid on my way back from New Orleans to Biloxi, MS. (But yes, I agree with your sentiment, although I do travel quit a bit & camp in southern Louisiana.

    Most of us could take that test without studying and would pass... And the law enforcement community wonders why the public does not respect police...

    Absolutely horrible! We definitely don't need anymore bad cops on any police force!! People always try to get over in life but fail to realize what's done in the dark, always comes to light. FACTS! Just do the right thing because its the right thing to always on the positive side of life.

    I retired from the Maricopa County Sheriff's Office and we had one officer terminated during the academy, then one later during his field training cycle steal money from the inmate funds and canteen system. He was terminated immediately that day of the theft!

    If this were in New York State, they all would have been promoted. It's nice to see that some states still hold their state troopers accountable.
