Ex-Catholic here. It was only when I actually sat down and thought about the story of St Patrick, ridding Ireland of snakes, that I realised it was just a metaphor for Catholicism killing Paganism, the Snake, in Ireland. Why should I believe in a death cult, that worships a dead man in a dead land halfway across the globe? When that same cult is the same that killed our Gods of earth, sea, forests, wind and fire?
It's all made up, but I'd rather believe in the living Earth, something that I can at least see is true with my own eyes.

Muslim's moronic logic of the best role model for humanity = Paedophile rapist murderer slave trader disgusting narcissist bewitched Muhammad.
      Narrated Jabir bin `Abdullah:
When I got married, Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) said to me, "What type of lady have you married?" I replied, "I have married a matron' He said, "Why, don't you have a liking for the virgins and for fondling them?" Jabir also said: Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) said, "Why didn't you marry a young girl so that you might play with her and she with you?'
      Sahih Bukhari 7:62:17
Narrated Anas bin Malik: Allah's Apostle said, "You should listen to and obey, your ruler even if he was an Ethiopian (black) slave whose head looks like a raisin."
      Sahih Bukhari 9:89:256
...I (the narrator Laqit) then said: Messenger of Allah, I have a wife who has something (wrong) in her tongue, i. e. she is insolent. He said: Then divorce her. I said: Messenger of Allah, she had company with me and I have children from her. He said: Then ask her (to obey you). If there is something good in her, she will do so (obey); and do not beat your wife as you beat your slave-girl...
SUNAN ABU DAWOOD HADITH NO. 142
Jabir (Allah be pleased with him) reported: There came a slave and pledg- ed allegiance to Allah's Apostle (may peace be upon him) on migration; he (the Holy Prophet) did not know that he was a slave. Then there came his master and demanded him back, whereupon Allah's Apostle (may peace be upon him) said: Sell him to me. And he bought him for two black slaves, and he did not afterwards take allegiance from anyone until he had asked him whether he was a slave (or a free man)
      Sahih Muslim 10:3901
Narrated Jabir: A man manumitted a slave and he had no other property than that, so the Prophet cancelled the manumission (and sold the slave for him). No'aim bin Al-Nahham bought the slave from him.
      Sahih Bukhari 3:41:598
Allah said, ‘A prophet must slaughter before collecting captives. A slaughtered enemy is driven from the land. Muhammad, you craved the desires of this world, its goods and the ransom captives would bring. But Allah desires killing them to manifest the religion.’
      Ishaq:327
"O Abu Hamza! What makes the life and property of a person sacred?" He replied, "Whoever says, 'None has the right to be worshipped but Allah', faces our Qibla during the prayers, prays like us and eats our slaughtered animal, then he is a Muslim, and has got the same rights and obligations as other Muslims have."
Sahih Bukhari 1:8:387, See also: Sahih Bukhari 1:2:24
He should not touch his penis with his right hand when urinating, because the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: When any one of you urinates, he should not hold his penis in his right hand or clean it with his right hand; and (when drinking), he should not breathe into the vessel.
      (Reported by al-Bukhaari, 150)
      Narrated Aisha:
Once the Prophet was bewitched so that he began to imagine that he had done a thing which in fact he had not done.

This is precisely why the Quran is a miracle. The use of English is precise you say with a mere 170000 words or thereabouts. Arabic is a language that has over 12 million distinct words and yet the precision with which they have been used is without contradiction. This from a man who was unlettered, is the miracle. In addition, the translation is never going to transmit the depth of the original, and will always depend on the skill of the supposed translator. Anyway, only Allah can guide those he wills, and it's your own misfortune if you're not among those that do not seek/receive guidance.

When I used to be a Muslim I thought of him as just another jew trying to slander my faith but after spending a great amount of time pondering about the matter I had no choice but to yeild to the truth,It hasn't been the steadiest of journey though, Loosing one's Identity can often be a traumatic experience because you can no longer identify with the people around you and neither can you divulge to them your apparent loss of faith since that could bring about catastrophic consequences such as being ostracized or worse being labelled as an infidel but strangely I still love them because most of them have always been kind , generous and supportive when I needed them the most.

The problem with Quran's apologists is that they try to discard what they think to be westerner's critical views by saying "well, if you can't read it in arabic, then you can't understand it"... but they miss the point : as ALL religion, the first to criticize aren't foreigners, but people from "inside", no matter what the language is, an inconcistensy is an inconsistency is an inconsistency, a contradiction is a contradiction is a contradiction, and the first people to notice inconsistencies and contradictions are people who read the texts in their original language which is also those people's language.
And that's pretty much the reason why "sacred texts" aren't self-sufficient, for example, the Quran itself states that it is all you need in religion, that it's complete and autosufficient... and muslims seem to agree with that... but stil, muslim seem, in fact, to rely more on the "Hadiths" (the supposed acts and sayings of the prophet Muhammad), than in the Quran itself, even though the Quran says that Muhammad is but the bearer of the message, he's nothing special, in fact, prophets like Moses or Jesus are more cited in the Quran, and in more revering terms than Muhammad is.
It's kinda the same with the Bible, the words of "God" should be sufficient, but people need heroes, they need Noah, Moses, Jesus etc, as well as the Quran is the "absolute word of Allah", but stil they need Muhammad...
Another contradiction with islam is that "absolute word of God" thing... it just isn't... even in the very frame of the religion... Allah didn't speak directly to Muhammad who wrote the Quran on the fly... Allah spoke to Djibril/Gabriel, who spoke to Muhammad, who spoke to tens of people, who spread the word to hundreds/thousands people, then people ended to write what they were told/remember, and they were not told/remembered exactly the same things, then some caliph decided to uniformise the texts, made a selection, and build what we can consider the actual Quran.... there are litteraly thousands of middle-men between the first supposed "revelation" to Muhammad, and the actual Quran... and it seems like nobody asked their predecessor's ID... how Muhammad could be sure it was Gabriel speaking to him ? And that Gabriel was really bearing the words of God ? Then how can Muhammad's followers be sure he wasn't some crazy illuminated guy, or a con man ? Then how the following generation knew they could trust what they were told ?
Actually, it's precisely because it's impossible that they needed to build arguments, to build the Hadiths, not to convince foreigners, but to convince muslims themselves in the first place.

Here is a quote from Thomas Paine: “ Whenever we read the obscene stories, the debaucheries, the cruel and tortuous executions, the unrelenting vindictiveness with which more than half the bible is filled, it would be more consistent that we call it the word of wickedness than the word of god. It is a history of wickedness that has served to corrupt and brutalize humankind”. Read your bible and find out about the absurdities and atrocities. The exact contrary of what is generally believed is often the truth. I believe that information is the best remedy against religious indoctrination. Let's all just try to be kind and helpful to others. If we could just imagine peace, then maybe, just maybe, it could become a reality. Reality matters.

Well if you put any stock in the gnostic version of the creation story, it makes a lot more sense. Keep in mind that the Islamic God is the Abrahamic God; the God of the Hebrew scriptures, and according to the gnostic account, that God isn't 'God-God', not the true God, but a misguided, evil, demiurge who mistakenly believes he is THE God. As a result, the God of the Hebrews is (by his own words) vengeful and jealous, he sends his people to war against surrounding peoples, telling them to kill everyone and to make slaves of those they don't kill, demands animal sacrifices, etc etc etc. Then, by contrast, when jesus appears and talks about God, he speaks about an entirely different God - one of love and compassion and so on.
I'm certainly not saying I put stock in one or the other, or any at all, but rather simply pointing out that if that account is accurate, it would make sense that their God (the Hebrew god) and beliefs comes across as comically false, since the God being worshipped is, according to gnostics, an impostor who for want of a better phrase, tried his best to make something good, but still fucked it up royally.

Hitchens had the balls to back down from his support of the Iraq massacre of 2003, and underwent waterboarding to prove it was not torture, and would later change his mind once he experienced it. A fancy sentence that has no actual substance in real life. Faith is not a divergence from logic and desire for truth, faith is the acceptance of inability to know all, just as much as what once were scientific facts, like the belief of an ether, are now considered antiquated and at times even barbaric, particularly in medicine. Science is not truth, science is the continuous discovery and rediscovery of the mechanisms of the universe, and it’s a process that constantly sheds it previous skin, thus it can never be depended upon. Because by definition, something that changes, cannot be true. Truth is unwavering and without mistake, it persists through time infinitely. Science depends upon the acts of mistake to exist.

its cuz we need the manipulation (the meaning, meaning is existential but our psyche requires it to function), that we don't espouse a religion any longer as a group, just allows this sort of subversion to invade that void. If we don't believe in anything we can't fight for it.

Untrue. There's things that have an uncanny ability to manipulate people in this world other than religion. Just one example : the atheistic, socialistic indoctrination centres aka colleges and universities in Britain these days. It would seem they're manipulating people more than religions, combine that with the pseudo-compulsary bbc (deliberate lower case) brainwashing operation (source : BBC Brainwashing Britain, book, expose') and the manipulation is more than religion, plus one can choose to not participate in religion without manipulation such as capita salesmen (aka inspectors) calling and threatenning letters.

My favorite joke is "If you want to make God laugh, tell Him your plans."
Once I told a Christian minister who I really liked this and he was shocked
that I could be so sacrilegious. Not really. One thing I think is missing from
most 'holy books' is humor. If it is true that man was made in God's image,
then why can't we laugh like a child? We fall down, cry and then our Mother
picks us up and makes us laugh forgetting the pain.
The Muslims seem to never laugh. I thought the Dutch cartoon of Muhammad
with a bomb on his head was priceless. It showed how contrary to their 'Prophet's'
    teachings were.
This podcast may have saved my life. In a book I am writing the central theme
is how the All-knowing Artist and Author of All, the Common Creator of the Cosmos,
and the Invisible, Infinite, Inventor of our Inspirations does from time to time allow
us to better the world for reasons which will forever be a mystery to our most
brilliant geniuses. The Bible says the beginning of Wisdom is fear but common
logic is the beginning of Wisdom is the admission of "I or we" don't know. From
there it is wise to try and find out once your mind has been opened.
I have met some good Muslims but they envied the U.S. for our freedoms. Most
said when and if they went home they'd try to change their beloved country to
be more like us. When looking at I.S.I.S, Hamas and other radicals, for them to
speak up would be suicide risking their lives.
Karen Armstrong opened my eyes to the original teachings of Mohammad.
For the first century and a half conversion wasn't by the sword, women were
honored and Christians and Jews were respected. History has shown when
Islam was tolerant, they prospered but when they became intolerant they
went into economic and cultural decline. Instead of spreading their faith,
they fought among themselves just as both the Jews and Christians have.
Is God laughing at seeing humans fight and kill over what they think they
know rather than what they know? Few fight over what little they know.
My most favorite book in the Bible is Ecclesiastes "Vanity, vanity all is
vanity." After seeking happiness and peace in material things, he failed.
After seeking happiness in learning, he failed.
After seeking happiness in religious duty, he failed.
Only when he decided to live and let live forgiving others and himself
and enjoying the simple gifts of living did he find happiness in his old age.
Maybe in the Muslims teachings of the Sufis you may find this but
they were never mainstream. It's a shame and a pity. They need not to
be so foolish and stupid. What is worse is not only are they are hurting
themselves but they harm others over things they should be uncertain of
had they not a hardened heart.
I am writing this because when questioning God "Why" a cloud formation
appeared with the letters YTHB. It is not a Western lettering. When I went
home I opened a world history book to Mohammad's conversion and his
trip to Yathrib (now Medina). Before opening the book, I asked Heaven to
guide my fingers to an appropriate page. When you recite prayers as the
Muslims do you are boring to Allah. He already knows them. Instead they
    should be listening.

Women and other religions were never respected by Islam. Ask a Muslim to explain the more than 20 verses in the Quran, where Allah orders Muslims to murder and despise non-Muslims.
