      Fair enough, here is a suggestion from a guy who also knows the value of putting legit rivets in your kits as details (yeah I caught that) Look into a jeweler's brass hammer. Might be a little bit of a cost but you are less likely to crack either the resin or the plastic when you make the punch as it is easier to control than a normal hammer.
      What? I went to school to make fuckin' jewelry, they didn't let me graduate sure but I kept the tools. Here is an equivalent to what I use.

      only issue the external tanks are to complex for what are in the show throw way parts. like on real fighter jet drop tanks are cheap because there made to be tossed and not reused all the time. imo id gone for just making the making the a bit bigger in diameter then all extra complex stuff on them. since all they are are extra H2 and LOX tanks. maybe add some surface detail like you see on the Shuttles main fuel tank for thats used for insulation. one of the things i loved about Unicorn was we got see suits with ET's like from Advance of Zeta and Gundam Sentinel.

    I've been holding off on painting my RG 1/144 Strike Freedom, I cannot wait any longer. I desire this level of production quality in my kits, and to reach that level, we must practice, learn from our errors, develop our skill sets, and keep on building. This video left me quite literally speechless, I usually skim through these build videos but I found myself rewinding the video and truly enjoying the production quality. 10/10 my friend, you got a new follower.

    There i am, making a break from painting to let a wash on a Sister of Battle-Boltpistol dry, open youtube and see a nem Pappa Gundam vid.
    With good service anouncements (clean your brushs&airbrush lads m lasses), solid craftsmannship (and yeah dude - you are not bad :P) on an intricate modelkit, cameos of she-who-destroys-every-toy-thats-plush, and of course, the one, the only, the Susans hate him, the Karens too ... Gundam. Live is good.

    • @s13gouf60
      @s13gouf60 Před 3 lety +4

      It shocks me how many people don't practice simple cleaning procedures. The condition of your tools will determine the condition of your work.

    • @MERLK2
      @MERLK2 Před 3 lety

      @@s13gouf60 Damn im a lucky git, 2 blessings by our best Gundam in one week. No wonder painting the highlights worked out fine today without hussle ;)
      But fun and jokes beside ... s13 gouf i think its because to a lesser degree people
      - fear to damage their (air) brushes, or
      - because they give up on it because their cleaning efforts ended in a result worse then it was before, and - much more often -
      - the simple fact that its tedious busywork, aided by inherent lazyness.
      You know the meme: Everybody gangsta till ...?
      Well "..." for offroad biking, 4x4 or even tank driving is funnily enough the same as for painting - cleaning the mess afterwards.
      Some jump in the hobby because it looks fun, and buy a little starterkit with colors, a brush and maybe a model.
      Or they buy this hot airbrush that is recomended by everyone and their dog and they allways wanted to try their hand with one.
      And they paint.
      And have maybe even fun in the best case.
      And then they have to "clean" their tools.
      But how to do that is often not exactly clear, or cared for by the user.
      Instructions are often about how to paint ... but not about how to clean it correctly (or those are very general).
      If they are lazy they scrub the tools a bit and think all done, cool.
      Or they look for tutorials, but there are different methods that contradict each other, or only colors of type and brand xyz, or some tutorials brush over it shortly because its a basic knowledge that "everyone knows already" ... or say oh cleaner xyz is absolutly needed and the best, everything else is bs ...
      And all that can be a hurdle, that can influence people that start the hobby, that are at the beginning of a learning process that focus to create something fun and nice. Not on maintenance, in ther pov.
      Maybe they clean their brush as they deem it correct ... and it looks nice while wet ... then it dries and looks like a collection of pubes sticking to a public toilet seat.
      Reasons for this are many (like sticking the brush to deep into a pot of paint), but they don`t know that, for them it looks like ... oh f-this, cleaning isn`t worth the hassle.
      And so they make do with what they have, or acquire bad habits ... or stop the hobby because buying new brushes every few weeks is bs.
      And dont get me started about airbrushes and melting seals with agressive thinner ... or damaging the cone/internal nuzzle with the "cleanigbrush" for airbrushes.
      Im getting grey, but still just a beginner in many parts, learning everyday what i made wrong or sub optimal in times past.
      But a couple years ago i began to start this hobby again, learning steadily (all hail the internet!!) and im on ebay from time to time looking for bargains.
      When i see very hot sets/konvoluts on the market for lowball prices i sometimes contact the seller and ask why they sell it for so low.
      Sometimes its a case of daddy/partner died and kids/partner don`t know the worth.
      Seldom its a case of my bf/gf/husband/wife cheated on me so i sell all for almost nothing (i dont touch those offers with a 10 yard pole)
      But often its the same story, leading to this rant.
      On the other hand you see things like, oh i painted only once, toolset&brushes brand new... and the brushes are making a damn convincing dead sea impersonation, while the color pots look like freddy kruger had his fun with them .. thats just pure lazy then.
      TL/DR: lazy, not knowing better, lazy, resigning because cleaning it never worked out, lazy ;)
