    Can you guys stop comparing this to the original movie?
    I mean, they took less than 20 seconds to switch cars, less than 6 seconds for the guys to change costumes, PLUS they can't miss a beat or a single dance step. The camera shots also arranged to perfection.
    This Live is a magic all to itself.

      @@datdumbdude4126 It's called "we had to make it a bit more appropriate". This is the version that appeals to a family audience and greased lightning in the film is disgusting. I get that it is Danny's sexual humour but you can understand them changing lines to make it ok for all ages. There's a reason that this is the version my drama teacher showed the class, on top of the naturally beautiful choreography and talent behind it that only live acting can portray.

  • @reidmason2551
    @reidmason2551 Před 7 lety +1112

    A lot of credit has to go to Aaron Tveit. He was willing to take on a role virtually nobody wanted because they were afraid of the shadow of Travolta. While he didn't escape that shadow, he still put in a damn good showing and proved he had the guts to take on an impossible challenge. He may not have been as perfectly cast as Julianne Hough and Vanessa Hudgens were, but considering the circumstances, he acquitted himself well.
    And let's be fair; out of all the GREASE characters, the one casting choice that's irreplaceable is Travolta as Danny. Any actor taking over the role would have been just as much at a disadvantage. Tveit made the most of a difficult situation and showed a lot of courage that a lot of other actors didn't have.

    • @joewhitehead3
      @joewhitehead3 Před 6 lety +55

      I never even thought about that. You're definitely right about Travolta being irreplaceable as Danny, which was part of the reason why I wasn't too crazy about Tveit's portrayal. But reading what you wrote here, I definitely see your point. You gotta give him props for taking on the role

      How many times has been adapted in broadway and do all the actors get hate for not being travolta ? No so I don’t see why this guy should.

    Really, I feel that the movie version vocals were better, but only because they were pre-recorded. The choreography in this version is so vastly superior though, I have no words. And I see that people seem to forget that when a reboot or remake is done, just like with BOOKS to MOVIES, SOMETHING is gonna be a LITTLE different!!!
    And I think that to give it its own extra little flare!!!!!
    That's like comparing IDENTICAL TWINS.....
    They might look EXACTLY the same but there is always SOMETHING that gives them their OWN IDENTITY!!!!!!!!!!!!!.

    The girls don't really fit, but who cares?! They're sexy and gorgeous. Especially the one that danced with Aaron.
    And let's see/hear anyone that's not a professional dance and sing that well. That takes a lot of hard work. Aaron Tveit is amazing.

      She was over the top for me wanting the spotlight and making sure her hair flipping was going to give her more starlight. The other dancers were fine but she was the one to easily notice n not cause she was dancing with Aaron.

    I see a lot of people in the comments referring to the 1978 movie as the original. It's not. The first stage production of Grease was in 1971. If I have any nitpicks with this particular production it is that they toned down the lyrics. The original lyrics are a lot more raunchy.

      Nope. I can appreciate the 70s sound, but Travolta just routinely hits strange notes and sounds somewhat off to me. Purely from a musical standpoint I find Tveit to have a better performance.
