A Visit To K10s: 30 Minutes Of HO Scale Trains (4/1/23)

  • For my first of multiple videos for April 2023, it was decided to do something a little different: model trains, instead of real, full size trains. These HO scale model trains are running on a gigantic model train layout in Maryville, IL, at a place known as K10's Hobbies. They have a great hobby shop specializing in trains in the front of the building when you walk in, and then this enormous and elaborate layout in a their huge back room. Open Thursday evenings and Saturday afternoons for operations, there is always someone running trains during these select times! It is a 60' by 81' HO scale model train layout.
I have not yet done a video specializing in just model trains for WR Productions, so here is my first attempt at it. Overall, it turned out almost exactly how I'd hoped. Perhaps in the (near) future, I will do a second installment. Stay tuned.
    Enjoy. © 2023

Had HO Scale Layout back in the Day before Life got Really Busy. I Miss it but the Real Trains and Train Rides work pretty well nowadays. 👍🙏

I've watched many model RRs, but this is one of the best. What I see, and don't like on these model RRs is when race car engineers have control - to see these million-dollar layouts, with a billion hours of work-person ship involved RACING around the layout - just stupid! Then I see model RRs which are all towns/cities/landscapes, with no track - what's the point if there is little track? Other model RRs - the engineer must have a hearing problem, the horn is constantly on - WTF? Then I see, these 1000' passenger cars on 6" radius curves - ok, ok exaggerating, but the point is valid: so unrealistic - half the car is over the rails - just not real. I get it: space is limited, so why run these giant long passenger cars - oh yes, and running these GIANT engines, 4-8-8-4, and so forth on tiny 6" radius curves - please. My last comment relates to aging and graffiti on rolling stock: do some railfanning - most of the rolling stock is covered in great, dirt, oil, tar, whatever, and most have some graffiti on them: most of these model RRs have pristine rolling stock - add some wear and tear, so aging, some rust, graffiti - go the extra mile. All of these comments aside, these are beautiful expensive model RRs and a joy to watch. :0)) 2 thumbs up.
