Thanks, Joe! I canceled my cable (and got rid of my antenna) around the time your show began, so these are all new to me!

CSU is my local Extension Service, and they gave me some BAD advice regarding raised beds. They claimed that adding tree cuttings to the bottom of the bed would probably cause disease. Total nonsense. I’m having wonderful success after the hard work of building my beds and filling them at the bottom with the grass I’d dug up, tree and shrub cuttings (chopped to reasonable size), then mixing in my native sandy soil (nearly all sand), then the expensive bagged compost (no bulk compost is available because it is far too profitable to sell bagged in my area). I’m not stating that the Extension Office has no value, but “buyer beware” that they too probably cling to traditional methodologies including traditional gardening which means pesticides, herbicides, fungicides, etc.

Oof! Sounds like you got a rookie on phone duty that day. And yes, I find a lot of the land grant university extension services are stuck in the past when it comes to ecological gardening advice.

By the way Joe and team, today was Day 1 of my knowledge that you post all content on CZcams for which I’m a Premium Member. Thanks very much for this decision because I gave up cable and broadcast television years ago. Most people see the horizon-traditional media is dying while Internet, private servers, and YT are thriving.
