If you paste in the text and make it look the way you want it, I'd recommend keyframing it from the end to start cuz you skip a bunch of clicks and everything you have to press when you switch back to the preview window is simply backspace to remove a letter, then keyframe again

I want to increase the duration that the text stays on the screen after its fully typed out, but even with select tool it still increases the lenght it takes to type it out
Just add a freeze frame to extend the end/duration as long as you like!

The black video layer was just used as a replacement for any video for making this tutorial. You can proceed with creating the text layer over the video layer that you want to use.

For that use Adobe After Effects, it'll be less time consuming.
Is there a way to keep the text on the screen longer at the end? It types it out but immediately disappears, which is not what I need.
Hello Emily. In order to keep the text for a longer duration select the selection tool (alternatively press V for selection tool) and in the timeline, increase the size of text layer from the end to the duration as per your requirement.

No using selection tool won't reduce the speed that's the rate stretch tool that decreases the speed of selected layer.
@@paradisiak dont put the last frame of your text at the end of its timeline, put it somewhere near the end of it

I was wondering the same thing..
Followed the instructions, but when I'm done I have a text box that isn't perfectly placed where I need it. When I moved it - it somehow added that move to the series of animations. How can I move/center that text box after creating this effect so that the box will always be in that location (from the beginning)?
How to you edit the text afterwards? It only changes the current Keframe in my case :(
You can't. You've to do it manually.

Sorry you need to do the same step for whole text or use after effects to create this effect in order to save time.
What am i doing wrong? First letter works fine, second works fine, but 3rd letter goes in between the two and i can't get it to continue my text.
So basically, the second letter i type, becomes my last letter forever. I can click anywhere on the text afterwards, but not after the last letter(which is the second letter as i meantioned) very weird
2:15 I just pressed 'R' and not able to move or drag any clips , everything got stuck
This takes too long!! Use the crop tool from right to left using 2 keyframes to reveal the typing. Easy.
In that case you won't be able synchronize it with the keystroke sounds, it'll be more like a wipe text reveal effect and not a typewriter effect.
@@CreativeLab_ac and how on earth did you synchronize the keystroke sounds????
You can synchronise it by placing the keyframes at the time when keystroke sounds occur in your typewriter audio clip.
