I was living in Tujunga at that time, and would enter, and exit the 210 from Sunland almost daily. I knew he was beaten close to Hansen Dam, but didn't know it was there. When the riots broke out I was working in Santa Monica, but was asked to help a company do a mock up at the LA convention center. We had to lock ourselves inside until the next afternoon. We spent the night boarding up all the doors so they couldn't get in. Very scary night as they broke through the first set of doors, and lit all the cars, and palm trees on fire around us. As usual another great video. Great detail on the specific locations thank you.

I honestly never knew why rodney king was relevant other than being beat. Now i realise he was never relevant. He was just a common criminal running from the cops. Yes the beatings where disgusting and absurd. But really, we rioted over a repeat offender who has never done anything for no one probably ever. Pretty disgusting on all levels.

    • @graham2631

One of the biggest contributors to the riot was the outcome of a murder trial. A 13year old black girl went to a store one morning and was shot to death by a old Chinese woman who probably had been robbed to many times. She was found not guilty of murder and walked. Another big factor was the LAPD was run in a military fashion by the chief (who bragged about the fact) to routinely in a allmost natzi fashion targeted poorer people beatings were common. I knew a guy who lived in the area. The beatings were payback for what had become standard police practice. My suggestion, police your police as it is happening again.
In my opinion,it's a cowardice goof move to smash a Starbucks window when a cop kills someone. The tree of freedom is watered with blood? Time to put out or shut up,roll on the station house of offending cop and burn it to the ground. Yes some will die like l said time to water the tree....but it will make them behave with respect from fear as these type of people deep down are weak cowardice bullies. This l will add is not a description of all police most are decent.

I remember the Rodney King incident and seeing it on the news here in the UK. It sickened me.... I felt shame for the actions of my fellow officers across the pond; as I was a serving British policeman at the time. BUT, (and there's always a but), the subsequent criminality, brutality and riots were NOT in Rodney King's name. These animals did not want justice, they wanted an excuse for a free TV, booze and to set fire to shit!!
Nothing has changed historically since then. What IS the malfunction of these criminals who claim to be seeking "justice" against the system? Do they actually sit at home and think... I know... let's protest against that unlawful behaviour by setting fire to stuff, beating up innocent people and then stealing and robbing shit.

I was living in Glendale and thinking that this was happening nearby. Then came the most significant riot since Watts in ’65. I remember being scared.
Now I'm old and I don't want think about what good young people will be forced to endure in the future.

It would be super cool if you could make a similar video locating the landing/crashing sight of the Indian Lunar Probe Chandrayaan2 that was launched in 2019!

The LA riots also happened because 14 years Latasha Harlins who was black girl got shot by a Korean store owner over some orange juice which the juice cost less than five dollars. Harkins already had money in ger hand but the Korean woman fought her and Harlins defended herself to fight back. When Harlins tried to escape she was shot back of her head by the korean woman. If you goigle her name the video is caught on tape. The incident happened days after Rodney King incident. The Korean woman didn't went to prison for killing a kid. This is why the looters were not only going after white people, but Asian people in that area.

Great Video it would have been a great idea if the media would have given that much information out when they aired the vidoe of the beating.
