I think the reasons for Leica not making higher shutter speed on their film rangefinder cameras are: 1. They haven’t made film cameras for sometime and they probably don’t have anyone to design a newer models. 2. With the focus inaccuracy of the center patch rangefinder with faster lenses (anything greater than f2 will be harder and inconsistent to focus and recompose at 5-10 feet shooting distance with 35mm or 50mm lenses), they probably think for a film rangefinder, the 1/1000 sec top shutter speed is sufficient. The functional use of the camera is not for shooting for bokeh. This is just my guess. If you look at the majority of Leica R bodies and digital bodies, especially the later models, the top shutter speeds are higher than 1/1000 sec. I agree what you said the fm3a vs fe2. Since I shoot with my cameras and not collect, the fm3a has a lesser appeal to me than the fe2.
Although you say old camera, it was being sold in the same era as modern cameras -- F100, F5, and F6 -- 2001-2006. Another great video.
