Gregory Crewdson effect tutorial

Hello, by adding a little blur and brightness to a layer one can attempt to get that atmospheric effect that we see in so many of Mr Crewdson's landscapes. Of course if you have some interesting models you can add to your photos that would help immensely. I welcome any other suggestions to get that Crewdson effect in Photoshop.
