I've not heard this piece before. What a masterpiece of sheer cleanliness really. It's nice that this Epica piece was so refined and void of the growls. The piano set the tone to match Simone's angelic vocals. Ear candy indeed. Thanks for the reaction.
Dang, Judas Priest and Sabaton, hope I can get tickets to the Rosemont show. Another great song by Epica, Simone sounds better than ever, and the composition was awesome. Simone wrote the lyrics, and she said that it was inspired by a dark German tale about the Alder King who steals the souls of children. Coen wrote the music. It's from the 2016 album , The Holographic Principle. The 10th of 14 full songs at this virtual show. When you come back around to EPICA, suggest the closing song from this concert, "Omega - Sovereign of the Sun Spheres".
Great Reaction! One of many beautiful ballads by Epica. Beautiful videography is their regular video/photographer Jens the Panda. This is shot in a similar style to his live one take of Rivers from Chile. One commenter in another reaction said that Jens used another assistant to guide him and make sure he wasn't near the ring when they lit it on fire. Epica recently announced a couple of once in a decade show's called The Symphonic Synergy where they will once again perform with a full live orchestra and choir on stage. One show in Amsterdam and one In Mexico City. The show in Amsterdam sold out so fast that they added a second show. Also congratulations to Mark Jansen of Epica who with his partner Laura Macri (famed Italian opera singer and member of his MaYan side project) just had their first child, a daughter. Mark missed their last few shows of 2023 to be home for the birth and first few months with his newborn and was replaced by Asim Searah for those few shows.
