It depends. I tried that and was almost murdered by what turned out to be a Social Psychopath - sometimes it's best to run (and the police, therapists, Ph.D.'s in Psychology, ministers and more were equally conned as well "he's so nice" stay there and work on "your own" issues.)
Remember O.J. Simpson - the charming "angry" man (social psychopath). I had several degrees, obtaining my MA and was ruined listening to the advice of the many who told me to stay and stand up to this - LOL to even "fight back". ( I say that sarcastically).
I learned there are other ways to stand up to them - such as posting photos of him in rage and his records online so that the many another numerous woman whom he targeted can now know the truth and not be harmed. I was stunned when so many women didn't believe me until the rage eventually showed itself.
It was truly a "life lesson and education"...

But I know there is one who teaches me not to do evil to them and not to turn yourself bad just because of them. And be aware when their limits are crossed.

Coming across tamasic and rajasic beings are unavoidable during our time here on Earth (and after all, we ourselves are just like them in one way or another throughout our lives; which conditioned soul can claim to be purely good and virtuous all their lives?). The best thing we can do is to try to keep our distance and defend ourselves from them (if need be) while focusing on our spiritual practices and devotion to God. Moksha will ultimately free us from having to deal with these deluded, ignorant souls anyway, so this matter should not be brooded upon for it is merely temporary.

There is very much to reflect upon in this story. First, we identify with a snake/earthworm in this story, symbolic of our soul. The snake had a spiritual awakening by repeating a holy word. He did all that he could to stay on his path but his error was in failing to protect himself. The monk even called the snake a “fool”for this fatal flaw. The snake would have been better off keeping distance between him and the evil around him. He needed to look out for self and others.
Here is some valuable wisdom.Thank you.

S A No. Your ego is trying to find the motive (in your case you are assuming jealousy) of others. But there is a solution for violations of both personal and universal ethics. it is your pre-programmed karma to come across venomous people. Let us get that straight first. It is all your own making.(based on past lives). If you also react negatively, you create bad karma again when people (friends, families, relatives, coworkers, known people) violate your personal dharma. Such people have to be handled with sam/dhan (peacefully) (revenge/resentment, angry reactions create negative karma for you).
If bad people (robbers, thieves, corrupt, terrorists) violate universal dharma, you will have 4 options to deal with them. Sam/dham/bhed/dand (if peace does not work we can divide them, if it does not work we can punish them but the method of choice depends on the context). Some terrorists have to be killed. Some may lay down their arms

Yes, this video talks about particular situation. Its advice is not applicable to all situations. Dharma is highly contextual. We can use sam/dhan when someone violates personal dharma because revenge or resentment and angry reactions can create karma but when it comes to re-establishing universal dharma (like dealing with thieves, robbers, corrupt, terrorists), we have 4 options. Dandy D: Yep, evil is the true sinner, but whilst they say demons do not exist as they are a supernatural myth, but the type of *damage* that some people do is the absolute equivolent to the type of harm/damage that any demon would likely do if they came up from hell. And in this case they as *good* as *do* exist (or as *bad*.)

+Pranav Sharma, This channel is a small attempt to spread some of the most valuable teachings of great masters that are hidden inside the pages of book sources. So all video lessons are selected from book sources, for which audio is not available. If I try to add voice to these teachings, it will consume a lot of time from my daily schedule and also adding voice may take away the originality of these words. Hope you understand. Thank you for visiting Supreme Yogi channel.

    So it's okay to hiss.
    I'll remember this.
Most people think hissing is bad though. They'll think you should just sit back and "take it". I never agreed with that, but this helps a whole lot more.

Well let me add that it seems from the comments that most people assume the snake is the toxic or wicked person? No.
This story is more complex. The snake was initiated through the holy word and became non violent. Then what happened? He became subjected to attacks but due to his non violent nature did not know how to 'defend' himself.
The persons who are toxic are the ones attacking the snake!
      Read carefully!
