  • OK - now it's running nicely, we need to attend to some shakedown problems, primarily: a) gearbox not being able to select above 2nd gear, and; b) oil leak from potentially the cam chain tunnel at the barrel/cylinder head joint.
Let's begin with the gearbox if we can.

I am still catching up on the builds, watched the Fury and half way through the Lightning series. I admire and appreciate the amount of detail and work you put into your video production. Thank You for sharing your talent on CZcams. Wishing You and Your Loved Ones a Very Merry Christmas, Happy New Year and a Blessed 2022 for you.

Hi Angus. There is nothing wrong with your presentation. In context it's more personalized. There is something missing from your fab collection, a B50 MX would be spot on. When you've finished the Fury SS. All the best from NZ

Many thanks Bruce. I am thinking of the next project and there are a number of considerations in play - there might be a reveal early in the new year.

I love watching your problem solving, particularly on such a rare bike, and you do very well handling those gears with just one hand (the other holding the camera). Good luck getting the gear made, I imagine that will cost a bob or two as a one off!

Many thanks Andrew. I've had gears made at the company before and the price was "manageable". It'll be a Christmas present to myself - always the best!

Interesting video, don't forget nova transmissions, they manufacture gears and gearbox for classic race bikes. When you visit your engineers, ask them about how they harden their gears...

Thanks Matt for the tip. The drawings do have specific hardening instructions. Will keep NOVA in the back pocket.

Hi Fred - yes very similar actuation mechanism to boxes found on Triumph and BSA of the 60's.

The Triumph and Bs a350 twins we're such pieces of crap let's be honest if they came out with a motorcycle with square Wheels they couldn't come out with anything that was more unsellable that Dove gray frame looks like primer and that's what everybody said in the 70s even if they made them in quantity they would not be sellable and they would be full of warranty claims just like a Norton Commando I have lots of British bikes and I ride them everyday that's what they were made for show don't think I hate British bikes I'm just honest about them

Hi Frank. I personally don't think they're that rubbish but they do have their issues and that's one of the contributors to them being postponed and then shelved. The dove grey was supposed to be silver but in an attempt to get some bikes out of the door for the '71 season some paint was bought cheaply. In the end they still missed the season and ended up with a catastrophic cash flow issue. I do enjoy riding my bikes but I also enjoy the challenge of maintaining them and keeping them going, so the bikes of the era are ideal!

Just thinking as I go along. At least I record everything and don’t chop it out. As I said before - warts and all as I work on what you referred to as “scrap” before. Thanks for the continued interest and feedback.

If you get so upset with the way Angus narrates his excellent videos, why watch them? Can't you find something better to do then criticise his work, like throw yourself off a tall building?
Angus, carry on with your work, its appreciated by the vast majority of us!

sean kirby , nothing wrong with Angus or his communication style. You on the other hand have some serious self importance issues. If you never comment again no one would miss you. Yet most of us enjoy Anguses videos and look forward each new release. So maybe you should try doing something other than acting a fool on your keyboard, if you can scrape up enough talent.
