My guess is that these low energy prices do not include the cost of batteries to shift that power to the night time period.

Really great, data-driven presentation. As a greedy Arizonian, I certainly look forward to near-free energy to power my home/cars/etc. It's not clear to me that the manufacturing, distributing, installing, and disposing of enough solar panels to cover the entire country of Spain as well as all the batteries needed to store it will be more environmentally friendly, however.

Batteries can be fully recycled since all the elements within them remain after they no longer function. Solar panels will last 30+ years and can also be recycled.

I wonder how these numbers evolved in the last almost two years...

Have to point out that the "Model 3" picture he used was actually an early Model S, not a Model 3. It's also not entirely true that Tesla just packages Panasonic cells, Tesla designs and specifies cells which Panasonic builds for them.

All cells are now built at the giga factory. Panasonic is a partner in the facility.

After watching this imagine wanting to open a coal mine and burn it to make electricity ! Lol

  • @shadfurman

It was actually regulations that put coal plants out of business. The coal plants and mines are now seeing a slowing in their decline.
I'm firmly of the position, had we not regulations and subsidies on any industry, we'd have more advanced, environmentally friendly, cheaper energy. Every time I work through the supply and demand over the last 100 years, we come out ahead without regulations.

Like thats working so great for society today? There is less regulation of industry and banking in the USA today than at any time since 1928. LOADS of regulatory hoops for small businesses to jump through who are unable to scale to meet them.
